This was a stop on our guided tour of the GSMs. These were interesting to see. We enjoyed the story of the teenagers who started the fire.

This is a very steep and awesome trail that we have done several times. We are sad to say that it is closed right now due to the recent fire. We are hoping it's reopen soon. This is an awesome place to get a great workout and some great views.

A anwesome hike with spectacular views. Clearly marked trail but strenuous at times. Though the park is often heavily populated during July this trail wasn't overly crowded.

We stayed in Gatlinburg for 3 nights and hiked everyday. The expensive and not great restaurant food was well tempered by the hiking. This was out favorite hike. It was very scenic, had an amazing climax at the peak, and we felt truly accomplished since we could look forward to the peak, look back on it, and see it from the road as well. Unless you have a fearless kid, and a strong stomach as a parent, I think 10 and under kids should not do the last hardest bit on the rock itself. Hopefully this trail did not sustain too much damage in fire recently. Maybe get in touch with the GSMNP folks and see. Even with fire damage, the terrain of the trail and all the rocky, amazing water alongside as well as the top lookout view would be worth it. Also, there are these incredible newts along the path in the water if you look hard!

Hikes to the top BEFORE the recent fires and I'm sad to hear that the trail is closed. When things recover, I'm sure the views will be just as amazing as before and demonstrate how resilient life is in GSMNP.
