Our family had a great time at the park! There are hikes suitable to all age groups. The lava tube was awesome! We could not see the crater at night because of the thick fog that settled in, but it was beautiful during the daytime. Great learning experience for all of us!

A not to be missed stop to see the active volcano's red glow at night. Do not miss the volcano lava tube that you can walk throughout. How is that for bragging rights back home.
A very informative visitor center.

A breathtaking experience even if the volcano is calm at this time. Allow enough time to visit, even if the basics can be seen in under two hours, but it would be a pity to rush. For a better experience, allow time for an easy walk from the steam vents to Jaggar museum and back instead of driving; and to watch the glow at nighttime, do not enter the traffic jam by the museum, but stay at the much less crowded Kilauea outlook some 200mts before the museum. Get some warmer clothes for after dark stays, as temperatures drop considerably after sunset and windchill factor can be sensible.

Spend a whole day in the Volcano park last week. We had a little one so had to skipped all the hiking part. But both the volcano and the lava tube was very impressive. We drove all the way downhill to the beach. There were a lot of field that you could actually feel that the hot and burning lava once flew out there.
