We just stayed here for a long weekend Friday to Monday, a pure weekend of relaxation in front of the log fire as well as in the hot tub. One of the largest well placed tubs I've used, under the cover of what appears at first to be some sort of converted garage will pleasantly surprised you with a sheltered luxury hot tub looking out to the stunning views of surrounding countryside.
The house itself is extremely interesting as you walk through the different rooms, ducking under the odd beam here and there. Going from room to room, it's all well connected but you have your own space. You have a well equipped kitchen next to a nice cosy dining room, with a staircase up to some of the rooms. And a corridor through to the living room and conservatory. Equally this would be a wonderful weekend away in the summer.
And lastly the host is very kind and was in contact with us via email over the weekend to check that all was well. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed there stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it.
loved every minute of our stay, I wanted to stay longer. Rolling hillsides, not a sole for miles, log fires, hot tub, massive kitchen. Perfect stay.
Little touches of essentials being left from tea and coffee to herbs and spices. The host was very welcoming and friendly.
Hot tub comfortably sat 8. Under cover and attached to the house which was perfect.
Be aware phone signal is very very limited. The only thing missing was a hairdryer, but that was our fault as we all presumed someone else would bring one!
From start to finish we had a superb stay. The welcome from Emma and her delicious home-made cake, the kitchen stocked with the condiments and cleaning materials, the wood burning fires, the comfortable beds, the warm, inviting hot -tub, the tremendous views, these and more made it a delightful weekend away from it all. Well worth a visit for families or friends, with or without dogs.
From start to finish our stay was pure bliss.
We were met with a warm welcome from Emma, and immediately felt right at home.
The homemade cake and fresh eggs we’re a lovely touch, they very much appreciated by all of us.
The rooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the beds very comfortable. (I’d maybe suggest if you visit, you bring a hairdryer. I didn’t see one in our room, but I’d brought one with us so it wasn’t a problem.)
As requested our dogs were kept on a lead at all times due to the sheep in the neighbouring field (I’d suggest others who visit with dogs bring a long line so they can roam the garden and not get too close to the perimeter fence as there are some parts of it they could easily sneak through.)
We loved being able to spend time with each other next to a roaring log fire keeping cosy or even in the hot tub watching the bats at dusk.
Truly a beautifully peaceful place to escape to. We look forward to visiting again!
We visited Lower Hodre to celebrate my mum’s retirement, 7 adults, one baby and two dogs! The house is amazing, you open up and door and another room appears! We were very grateful to have minimal signal at the house, so could properly unwind and forget everyday life (which doesn’t happen very often!). We were even lucky enough for Emma (the host) to provide a Mongolian curry for the evening with all sides, one of the best curries I’ve had in a long time. It was a truly memorable weekend, and would highly recommend to others!!
