Nice stretch of land with 12 or so bungalows, adjacent to agricultural field and mountains. Some days you can see the buffalo and landworkers on the field. The resort has its own small reception and restaurant in authentic asian wooden style. The owner Paolo and his Thai staff are very friendly, Bungalows are OK, Very nice garden and pool with sun beds. During my stay the weather was a bit off (meaning little sun, chilly), and without a proper town or other things to do in the area, I got a bit stuck. The city of Chiang Mae is some 40kms away (an hour's drive), and Paolo will bring you there if needed.

My husband and I had a wonderful week at Oriental Village recently. The staff are great, the location relaxing and the facilities more than suitable. While it is a little out of town, transportation is available on request and there are always scooters available for hire should you wish to go out and about.
We will definitely be back for another stay!!!

We had an excellent stay at the Oriental Village, feeling prepared having read the reviews of previous visitors. The place is run by a single French guy who is a bit rough around the edges, but eager to please his guests on the day-to-day. We found the rest of the staff to be friendly and helpful, even when the language barrier got in the way.

As mentioned by several reviewers, early spring is often hazy as the local farmers are burning their fields. This was certainly the case during our stay, which would have been blue skies if we could have seen them. But alas, the weather was warm and the ambiance at the pool was heaven.

We each had a massage, though we were told that the usual masseuse wasn't available, but we'd be happy with the substitute. Indeed, we were! She was wonderful, though I have to say, she was quite unabashed (in both the male and female versions) about proximity to the erogenous zones. Nothing "inappropriate." but just sayin...

We would go again in a heartbeat. Chiang Mai is a really interesting city, easily reached by taxi for about $30, and we loved visiting the elephant rescue camp as well.
