We arrived at the Tuntas Apartments on Monday the 4th of September to an empty reception area with no staff. Within 5 minutes 3 members of staff turned up one being the Turkish/ English illegal worker named Lauren. She was rude, unhelpful, wouldn't get eye contact and tried her very best to confuse matters by talking over everyone in Turkish (badly).

The first thing we was asked was would you like to buy aircon priced at £8 a day (£58 for the week).

We where then taken to room 211 (49 steps up) with no lift and the view off the balcony of two 40ft concrete blocks. The apartments where nice and spacious despite having a few faults: lights hanging off the ceiling, patio doors that didn't lock, a toaster that blew the electrics every time you used it and the smell of stagnant water due to a leak in the bathroom from the basin/ sit down bath/ shower that was only big enough for a small child.

After 10 minutes in our room we decided to go to the bar and get some drinks. We wanted two cokes and two vodka and tonics to then be told we "might be unlucky as they might not have any tonic water (by Lauren). Fortunately for us they had enough for two which cost us 40tl (£10). After this we decided not to buy drinks from there the rest of the week.

In the apartments was a small shop that didn't sell anything useful other than water which they ran out of.

We awoke the following morning and asked at reception if we could change some money to be ignored and asked by a different manager if we'd payed for our air con as it "wasn't in the system". We where unable to change money as they didn't have enough in the safe so had to go elsewhere.

Towards the end of the week from hell we asked 3 days in a row if we could keep our room on to be told "try again tomorrow as they might get a last minute booking". We presume this was because we didn't spend any money at the bar all week. 11:15pm the night before we left we where told we could keep the room on for £20. When we did leave not one member of staff was around so we left the key on reception desk and asked our private transfer to pick us up earlier as we'd rather sit in Bodrum airport.

Overall, the place is filthy, unkept and the staff tell lies. Do not go anywhere Lauren says as you'll probably end up with food poisoning. We are season travellers and have been to many parts of Turkey which we love and we aren't fussy. However, we can say we will never ever ever return to the Tuntas.

I booked this hotel for 2 nights last month (August 17) and the hotel was that bad we left after 15 minutes with no refund. The room was dirty, and so basic it was practically a hostel. There was no bedding provided for the living room, although to be honest I would not have allowed my children to sleep on the couch. The bedroom door would not shut as the bed blocked it and the wardrobe could not used as the bed also covered these doors. The bathroom can only be described as disgusting, and the so called kitchen was filthy (see pics). The communal pictures also flatter the external areas. I complained but was told that they could re clean the room or give me 2 bedrooms if I paid more, I looked at these rooms and they were no better. The manager informed me that I had not paid for 5 star accommodation and no one else complained, I can not imagine how anyone could stay in this hotel and be satisfied. Although this hotel is not expensive there are cheaper hotels in Altinkum that are much nicer. I was refused a refund, but still left as I couldn't have put my children through 2 nights in this hovel. Altinkum is a lovely place but please avoid this hotel at all costs!!!!

Just returned home from another 2 weeks stay at the Tuntas.. Having loved it so much last year we booked again... It was like we hadn't been away from the place.. Lauren was as helpful as usual, making sure we all had what we wanted or needed whilst around the poolside.. Merve, kept the snack bar ticking over with all freshly cooked snacks and for Mr Tuntas himself ( Efkan, the manager) what an honour it is to know this man... Again, he daily went out of his way to make sure all was Ok and our hols were running smoothly.. Really sad that we never got to say bye to Efkan, but there's always next year.. Big thumbs up to the cleaners, our room was cleaned daily with nothing too much trouble, the towel & flower art just put the icing on the cake.... THANK YOU ONE & ALL.. (ROOM 204)...

We arrived here by accident in 2015; we were actually booked in to Kusadasi but our taxi brought us to Altinkum, and we loved the place so much that we returned in May when we next had the opportunity to get away.
The apartments are clean, spacious and comfortable, but what really makes the place is the staff.
Didim and the immediate area is a gem; clean beaches, crystal clear sea and a wealth of ancient historical sites, but what makes a place worth returning to after you have soaked up the ambience and history is the here and now, the people.
The housekeeper who makes your bed a fiesta of colour and joy with origami bath towel animals and silk flowers.
The barmaid who goes the extra mile to sort your travel problems
The night staff who will book you that special room because they remember you....
Little things that are actually so big and special
We love tuntas apartments because they are not only clean and comfortable, but have those special staff that makes returning a joy.
