Traveling solo can be daunting. This resort is my favorite in Aruba (so far). Great location, excellent amenities, comfortable beds, fine water pressure. The few things I had to fuss about were tended to immediately. The staff here goes above and beyond to please. Shout out to Aisheline and Melanie at Blue for constantly checking on me and keeping me hydrated. Also big hugs and thanks to Betty at Aquarius for being so cheerful in the mornings. Hint: make a reservation for LG Smith’s if you’re craving steak. My only complaint about the resort are the worn out pool chaises with stained cushions. See you in ‘26 RenAruba ❤️

Room tip: Check the calendar for carnivals and parades, it affects the traffic.

Well where do I start with this stay, The staff in the main bar were abysmal, asked if there was table service or bar service, and he turned around and said there was the bar, having worked in hospitality there was no way to speak to a guest. The drinks took far too long and when it came to the bill I asked for the service charge to be taken off the waiter just gave me a dirty look. When I passed this feedback on to the front desk they apologised but it did not make up for the impact it had on my stay. In the Bedroom in which my friends were staying bits were hanging, lack of towels in the room, no body wash, and no shampoo. These are just the small things. Getting out to the Island is not too bad, service on the island is just ok could have been better, Overall just very disappointed with this stay.

Buyer beware!!! Not what it seems, !!MUST READ!!
Things we wish we would’ve known before booking this place:
There is no direct beach access from the marina hotel, the only way to get to the beach is by boat to renaissance island/flamingo beach- man made lagoon (7-10 minute ride)
If you book the marina side you are basically staying in a hotel in the mall. The ocean suites are located across the street (a few minute walk) where there is a swim up bar and a man made lagoon, still no beach access. The view is better on the ocean suites side since you can see the ocean, from the marina hotel you will mainly see docked cruise ships.
When you do go to the island, if you don’t get there early enough you won’t find a chair, many people keep towels on the chairs to save them but aren’t physically using them. Other people have access to this island if they pay, but as a guest of the hotel you don’t get any special treatment.
The pictures they show of the cabanas (that make it look like it’s connected to where you are physically staying) are on the island and are available to rent for $700 a day.
The ocean suite side gets more amenities than the marina hotel. Upon leaving we had to walk all of our luggage to the other side to get shuttle service to the airport.
The renaissance resort in a whole is far from most of the restaurant/bars/nightlife. Requires a 15 minute cab ride to get to this area (about $20) which is right across the street from all the major hotels- holiday inn, riu, barcelo, Marriott that are all inclusive hotels.
Honestly the island is beautiful and we enjoyed traveling around the island of Aruba to see different things, but would’ve definitely chosen a different place to stay that is more convenient.

Room tip: Get to the island early or you won’t get a chair, and it’s always windy and sand blowing everywhere

I just wanted to thank everyone at the Aruba Renaissance Ocean Suites for all they do to make our stay as memorable as our first visit. I want to give a special shout out to Petro at the towel hut. Her presence is so special. She always greets with a friendly smile 😊. There is so much waste when it comes to towels and I watched it during our stay. We are all about conservation and a good start would be to dry our towels over a chair when a shower passes, not just gather them up and dump them off and get clean ones. It really takes more effort and is more work for all. Yet, Petro, always is there with a smile and dry towels!

I’m rating this a 5 star due to the things I loved, I need to add a caveat for an issue that happened during our stay that would make it less than 5 stars if it is an ongoing issue. I’ll explain below.

*We stayed in the Adults-Only Marina Side

First- this is a unique hotel. It’s like staying in a city hotel with its own beach island. So it’s a very different experience than beach hotels we have stayed in previously. We had an upgraded 6th floor room with a water view, but that gives you a view of the cruise ships when they are in port, which is most days. This was fine with me, it was a fun vantage point on a cruise port, but just understand you’re not rolling over and peering out at a gentle ocean. It was not loud, we heard almost no outside noise from our room.

Second- the hotel was beautiful. Service was impeccably. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I started out the week trying to remember people’s names for this review and there were so many outstanding employees that it became impossible to keep up with them all. The breakfast buffet was amazing.

Third- the private island is beautiful. We loved the flamingos wandering around all day. They were entertaining to watch. The food was decent and very reasonable. The drinks were great and also very reasonable. We loved the provided floats to use in the ocean. The only negative to their island is that it is so close to the airport, so you do have jumbo jets coming in overhead occasionally while trying to enjoy the island.

So those are my general thoughts on the hotel. Once we settled into the idea of this city hotel with a private island concept, we really enjoyed it. We also loved having so many shops and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely be interested in staying here again.

The caveat: During our stay- Marriott was pumping sand into the beach on the adult side of the island. So the water was murky, sand was pouring into one side and it was extremely loud. None of that bothered the family friendly side of the island, so we were able to move over there. But it was disappointing that half the island was essentially shut down during our stay. So if you are considering staying there, I would definitely ask about that issue before booking, esp if being able to be on the adult only side is important to you. And we had no warning, had we known, we probably wouldn’t have booked there or would have asked about renting a car and visiting another Marriott property’s beach for a day or two. They just started doing this project on the second day of our stay with no warning to the guests.
