You are warned when you sign up for this tour that it's rough and for the 4WD parts it is, but in a fun way. Everyone´s bouncing about in the back like jellybeans. The first stop at Natural Pool is lovely and the scenery is very nice.
From there it was all downhill. For the last 2 stops the drive was mainly on paved roads. There were 4 trucks for most of our trip and they tailgated each other at 80km an hour down the winding back roads. It was horrible, you hung on for dear life as the tires squealed around the corners. We were in the front of our truck and got covered in the dirt from the back tires of the truck just a few meters in front of us. It was truly unpleasant. Everyone in the truck was completely silent, just hanging on.
A few of the other passengers asked about the driving style as we were told “that is how we drive in Aruba”. FYI the tour drivers were really quite nice people.
The 25-minute stop at Natural Bridge (which collapsed 15+ years ago) is really just for bathrooms and drinks and is pretty boring. The stop at the Church also doesn´t need to be more than 5 minutes. Most people on our tour just drank coconut milk in the car park.
I think a tour on that side of Aruba is well worth it but if I had my time again I would look for a different operator (there were plenty not driving like maniacs). I´d also try and find a tour that had a stop at the lighthouse and potentially the mining ruins/secret pool.
