“A fabulous weekend despite the weather”
Reviewed 25 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

What a terrific find. Amazing off piste trails with Jason as a great guide, Superb food provided by Nikki, and a lovely barn (with views to die for), to relax in at the end of the day. Despite the rain we had a great time. Hope to come back, and would definitely recommend it.

“a brilliant trip - this is THE place to mountain bike with friends”
Reviewed 23 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Nikki and Jason were excellent hosts - all went like clockwork with guided trips that were really superb, excellent accomodation and brilliant food. Its all included so you have a great breakfast, a packed lunch and a lovely dinner each day - you just have to bring your wine and beer.
Nothing is too much trouble and you really feel its a relaxing break ( if hard mountain biking is your thing!- but they do cater for all levels)
We went last year and had a great time rebooked and have just returned from the best biking holiday ever.
We've rebooked already for next year and this will I'm sure be a regular trip until we get too old ( and then we might just come for a great catered holiday).
I would unreservedly recommend Mud trek (proved by just paying the deposit for next year, our 3rd trip)

We really do attract the nicest guests! What very kind words - thank you. The weather was kind to you two years running too. No pressure for next year then... ;)

“I'll be back...”
Reviewed 23 May 2013 for a stay in March 2013

As I climbed the final stretch of road in -4 Celsius late on Saturday afternoon, cold, wet and tired from almost 7 hours of riding, and in between deep breaths and tears, I was cursing our guide Jay, and MB Swindon (the party I traveled with) who had requested an "epic" ride from MudTrek...

30 miles of rugged Welsh countryside on a mountain bike is hard work; it hurts, it hurts some more and then just as you think it can't hurt anymore, your gears freeze and it becomes harder than you imagined.

I don't profess to be the fittest guy or the best bike mechanic and this is probably a good reason for the poor state of me and the bike at the end of a very long day. But as I warmed by the log burner, drank a beer or two and then ate an amazing home cooked meal (thanks Nikki) I recalled the highlights of the day.

Stunning views, fantastic would-never-have-ridden-there-on-my-own rides, great descents, challenging climbs, mud, puddles etc. We rode off piste, farm tracks, fire roads, woodlands and linked up with the nearby Brechfa trail center to experience some of the trail designed by legendary trail architect Rowan Sorrell.

This amazing ride encompassing everything that you could expect from a day out on a mountain bike would not have been possible if it were not for the superb local knowledge provided by Mudtrek.

Though I mention a grueling 30 mile, 7 hour ride they can tailor your stay to meet your own needs, fitness and ability - and now there is even a skills loop on site so you can learn some techniques to take with you on your next ride.

The riding aside, MudTrek is in a beautiful secluded spot high in the hills and your stay in the farm house will be warm and cosy with all the facilities you would expect - hot showers, comfy beds, kitchen, TV, music system, log burner etc. The food is great and there is plenty of it.

I have booked to return in October this year - better prepared for another epic weekend of rugged Welsh mountain biking MudTrek style.

Tell it like it is Tim! But thank you for pointing out to the general public that this particular 30 mile "epic" ride was specifically requested by MB Swindon and is not necessarily the norm (unless you want it that is). Yep, each guided ride is tailor made to every individual group - families and beginners too. See you in October!

“Mountain biking accommodation at it's best”
Reviewed 20 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Fantastic way to enjoy mountain biking in south wales, great ski type chalets with good hot food and friendly service.Mountain bike guide to show you the excellent local trails in the area, have now stayed there twice in a group of nine and have booked for next year already.
Jason is a fantastic guide and takes photos and videos of your ride to keep your memories and Nikki is a great cook and is happy to cook veggie as well.
