My husband is the diver in the family and I am what is apparently referred to as a “non-diving spouse” :). My husband had been to Bonaire several times with a dive group but I had never been. Typically we have gone to Anguilla and actually had reservations there again for this winter, but after the hurricanes hit that island, we scrambled to find another island that was not impacted by hurricanes.

When considering Bonaire, my husband said that it’s beautiful, but no sandy beaches, which is important to me. The good news is we found this resort! They have a gorgeous white sand beach (I hear it’s the only one in the island) and since we had a beach front room, we could walk right out or patio and onto the beach. Water is crystal clear turquoise and plenty of beach lounge chairs every day (unlike other places we have stayed where you have to get out early to claim your chairs.)

My husband said the diving was terrific and they had an 8:30 am dive and 10:30 dive every day right from the resort (Great Adventures Is on site), so he was back by lunch time and we had the whole afternoon to enjoy together.

We rented a small truck, but turns out didn’t really need it since he could dive right at the resort. We just used it to go out to dinner a few nights at some of the top rated “fine dining” restaurants on Bonaire, but we found the restaurant onsite (Balandra’s) to be the best on the island. Frankly don’t understand why not rated more highly. Food was delicious, the staff could not have been more friendly. Shout out to Taco and Patrick and the other waitstaff that made our dining there so enjoyable. It’s right on the water with gorgeous views.

Highly recommend.

Room Tip: The beachfront rooms are beautiful, but Marina is also a great view if you don’t want to pay for higher priced beachfront suites.

Our family of 6 (kids ages 12, 9, 6, and 4) spent a day at the Harbour Village Bonaire while on a 7-night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Adventure of the Seas. The hotel offers a limited number a limited number of day passes, depending upon club occupancy. The fee for a Day Pass is US$55.00 per person plus 6% sales tax and includes a credit of $15.00 per person, applicable towards charges at La Balandra Bar & Restaurant, located seaside. Also included are use of private beach, lounge chair, towels, mask & snorkel rental. Additional activities such as diving and spa treatments are available at an additional cost and upon reservation. I booked our passes by emailing reservations@harbourvillage.com.

Round trip taxi service is available at the dock. Driving time to the hotel from the port is approximately 10 minutes. Our family decided to take the adventurous route to the hotel by renting two golf carts from Bonaire Cruisers and exploring Bonaire for a few hours in the morning prior to checking into the Harbour Village around 11 am.
Harbour Village Bonaire is a unique small luxury hotel and it felt like we were enjoying our personal private island getaway. This was greatly appreciated as a pit stop off a cruise ship. Though the hotel had plenty of guests, there were only about 5 families on the beach with us that afternoon. This allowed my husband and I to relax on lounge chairs while safely supervising our older two while they snorkeled nearby. We brought out own snorkel equipment and spent hours enjoying the vast diversity of the sea life on this beach. The pool was our private pool during the time spent there. If you are looking for a party location, this is not the place for you. If you’re a discriminative traveler looking to enjoy the finest that Bonaire has to offer, I highly recommend that you reserve your port excursion now. Our family truly loved our time at this hotel and used on credit to have drinks and lunch prior to heading back to the ship. We look forward to returning to Harbour Village Bonaire when our travels bring us back to this amazing island. We are now big fans of the Southern Caribbean.

We have stayed at this property twice. On both occasions, we were impressed by the friendly, attentive service of all staff. We also appreciated that meticulously kept facilities - from the individual suites to the pool to the beach.

It was nice to have a small kitchenette, but we dined at the on site restaurant La Balandra and other local restaurants.

I would not hesitate to rebook at this property for future trips to Bonaire.

My wife and I stayed one week at the resort in the first half of January. We definitely recommend the hotel. The staff in every department, including reception, food & beverage, housekeeping, and maintenance were all friendly and helpful. Our meals at the open air restaurant on the beachfront were a wonderful surprise. The chef, from Venezuela, does a terrific job and we enjoyed every breakfast, lunch and dinner that we ate there. The beach has a lot of tree shade available and never felt crowded. There is a small, hardly-used swimming pool, which was also very nice. We came to Bonaire for the SCUBA diving and snorkeling. The dive shop team was also super-friendly and first rate. I did seven dives, including one night dive. Walking about 150 meters from the hotel room to the dive boat is a real treat. Boat rides to dive sites ranged from 5 to 17 minutes. The diving was very nice. Lots of beautiful coral and lots of fish. The only disappointment was that visibility was only around 30 feet. The hotel is clean and well situated. we ran or walked into town every day. It's probably less than 1.5 miles/2.4 kms from the hotel. On our final day, the hotel was very generous about allowing a late check out and offered it before we even asked.

Spent a week in this amazing spot. Perfect retreat from the rest of the world! Extremely private beach with a fabulous beach boat restaurant. Perfect for couples and family vacation. A fabulous new find. UNITED has direct flight from Newark once a week. Excellent WiFi even on the beach.
