I have stayed here twice. A decent 4.5 star all inclusive place. Friendly staff, good overall service. Buffett food is actually very good. The room quality is not 5 star, but close. The first time my room was actually really good. Second time, not sure the room was abit average.

We stayed at The GBP Punta Cana early May.
The weather was great, mid to high 80's everyday.
The hotel is part of a huge complex, one of 7 on site.
Staying in the Punta Cana side you have access to the Bavaro and Turquesa hotels but not the Ambar Blue, Amber Green or Fantasia hotels.
We had a room in block 16 right next to the pool and a 5 minute walk away from the lobby where the buffet restaurant and evening entertainment is.
The hotel is spotless and the grounds are immaculate.
The majority of the hotel staff are great and cannot do enough for you.
Food......The main buffet restaurant has plenty of choice and we never once struggled to find something we liked.
The drinks were served at the table and could sometimes take a while to get to you but that wasn't a problem.
I think you are allowed 3 visits per week to the Ala Carte restautants.
We tried the Garden Grill, the Mexican, the Italian, the BBQ and the Mediterranean.
All were really nice but the Garden Grill was by far the best.
The Beach........Is busy but has a lovely breeze so takes the edge off the heat.
We tended to go down the beach around 4pm after the pool (more about the pool later). Its about a 15/20 minute walk from the Punta Cana pool if you feel up to it in the heat, but we waited for the tram to pick us up and that was a 5 minute ride.
The Pool........was not too busy with plenty of beds available.
The only downside was the noise!
We made the mistake of laying close to the entertainment booth one day and couldnt hear ourselves think, so we decided to move to the opposite side of the pool away from the speakers.......big mistake, as the Bavaro pool is directly opposite the Punta Cana pool so we were treated to having to listen to both entertainment booths blasting out their music simultaneously which was deafening.
Just a thought tor he management........
As both pools are so close to each other why not have one set of speakers playing one song at a time?
When they weren't blasting out music it was very relaxing.
The Rooms.......were clean and comfortable with towels and sheets changed daily.
The mini bar was topped up as needed but only 2 beers a day tended to be left by the maid.
Our room safe didn't work at first but was fixed within 10 minutes of reporting it.
Unfortunately we had the same issue everyday for the first 6 days.
I reported it, they fixed it, but the following day it would pack in again so we ended up leaving our valuables in the case.
The Mozzies were a real pain in the evenings especially in the lobby bar area.
Once or twice I forgot to put on my jungle formula spray and got bitten to hell even though I bought a mozzie bracelet off the TUI Rep on the coach on arrival.
He reckon that the bracelets had a 90% success rate in repelling the mozzies, im not sure if it worked because I still got covered in bites.
The Drinks......The beer was a decent quality.
My wife liked the local Baileys as well as the Coco Loco and Banana Mama cocktails, all made with a healthy splash of local rum.
The Entertainment........In the foyer bar it was ok, nothing special just the same type of stuff you get everywhere else, although there were some very good shows in the theatre and in the village.
Overall we had a great holiday, helped by the excellent staff.
Not quite a 5 star stay due to the noise by the pools.

Room Tip: Villa 16 was a great location

I forgot to mention about the top pool being so noisy with the ambar blue being closed, we went back this year for my husbands 40th as last year the ambar green section was pure paradise and you got to chill out and just relax but not this time with the noise us and a few other people complained about it but nothing was done, maybe if they turn it down a tad it wouldn’t be as loud.

Overall nice resort, nice staff, privilege club a definite must if you want all the comforts and amenities, Ate at all the À la Carte restaurants, Mikado Japanese being the best! Rodizio Brazilian 2nd best. Beach buffet decent, good choices, but sometimes food not hot enough.
