The resort was beautiful and very clean! Our room service was Horrible! We had wash cloths stocked ONLY the 1st day and the last day, out of the 7 nights we were there. We literally called 2 or 3 times a day to get them delivered. Our friends had flowers and towel animals on their beds occasionally, we NEVER had them. We even paid extra for a Ocean View room, asked for King, received double beds. The view from our room was great though. Service is slow, they say it is "Dominican time". Most servers never smile, while others were great (Mary @ the beach, Raul in Pool bar). We even tipped $10+/day. If you want to see entertainement you have to deal with kids because it is all at the NOW side. Wont stay here again, too much money to come back NOT 100% satisfied!

We stayed at Secrets for our 20th anniversay. We had a wonderful time. Can't find anything negativeto say about the resort. We loved everything!!! We did notice that when we had dinner at Now Larimar, the service did not compare with secrets.

We stayed in a 1st floor room with sea view overlooking the swim up pool. The view was technically a sea view but not what we expected. It did mean we were near the beach and away from the noise of the evening entertainment. The room was great and really clean. There was a smell from the drains that came and went but wasn't too bad. The mini bar was stocked every day and covered by all inclusive, as was room service. I think a swim up room would have also been a good option.

The hotel itself is great. The no children policy felt strange at first but did aid the feeling of tranquility. The beach was fine white sand with warm blue water. The snorkeling was not up to much.

The food was good with lots of restaurants to choose from. We did get travelers food poisoning which lasted over a week. I think it was from the buffet in the seaside grill. The steaks served in this restaurant were fantastic. Just avoid the buffet in the seaside grill serving battered prawns and lobster, baked potatoes and vegetables. You can order veg from the menu which should be fine. Imodium and Pepto Bismol were a life saver, I will never travel without them.

The weather was good, hot but not too clammy. Thunder storms occurred every other day but didn't spoil anything.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. All spoke enough English to help this non-Spanish speaker.

Overall the standard of this hotel is fantastic and I would definitely return for a relaxing holiday.

To start off, if you get car sick take something for the bus ride from airport to the resort, several people on our bus had issues. Once at the resort, check in was quick and the greeting was as advertised. Our room was supposed ot be a king but we had a double and they were booked so we couldn't change. We had a swim up room which is the way to go. You can basically have your own party cove with your rooms around you. The waiters will find you and the trick is find 2 of them and stagger the drinks, this makes the wait not so long. Be careful on the liquid viagra shots, this is the Domincan shot. Seems harmless until later that night or the next morning.

Beach was excellent. Large and plenty of places to layout. Water did have seewead which was constant. If topless women offend you there are some on the beach as this is an adults only resort. I liked the security guards around the resort keeping people from entering the resport who shouldn't be there, although we met people in our pool who were staying next door at the Now Larimar. Service on the beach is as expected, slow. Not too mention its so hot any drink you get must be drank quickly.

As for the food, I would rate this as average. The best thing was the chicken and kabobs off the grill at the hut by the beach. He is only open for lunch. The buffet was not bad, as expected for a buffett. The spice restaurant was good, but if you want great service get the Hibachi grill show (well worth the wait). The Bluewater grill has good food (Ribeye was actually not bad). Service there was horrible the first time, much better the second time. Did not try Oceana which from our neighbors was rated average, they said it was basically a sample of everal items instead of ordering off a menu.

We did not pay extra to dine on the beach or for the lobster fest on Monday night. A little much when you figure you paid for an all inclusive.

The entertainment was average at best. I think this depends on what you want. You want to relx and enjoy the calm atmoshere then it is great. But if you want dancing and stay up late you will be unhappy.

We did not have any problems until the last day, when I was sick to my stomach. Unknown id this was from food or liqour. Considering it is 2 days laters and I'm still not back to normal I would rule out the alcohol.

They have a daily shuttle that takes you to the mall 4x a day for 0 minutes. Unless you want ot visist the Hard Rock cafe gift shop then don't waste your time. There are flea markets down the beach both ways. The workers are eager to get you in their shop but once inside they were not bad at all. I would suggest going in a group or at least during the day. If your interested in Liquor or paintings they have plenty for good prices there.

One group we talked to liked the cigar tour offered through the hotel, 1 hr long.

We enjoyed the trip, the resort, and would consider going back. I strongly encourage a swim up room though. The balconies only have a partial ocean view anyway since there are large palm trees over the entire property and the rooms do not face the ocean.

Room Tip: The Swim Up rooms are the way to go, we had one and loved it
