We spent 7 days at Secrets Royal Beach for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Jenniffer Bates, Gladis, and Yolieny (spelling?) provided excellente service at the swim up and beach bars. Special kudos to Jenniffer who waded into the pool in her work clothes to serve mamajuanna shots to the group we were with. They go above and beyond when it comes to providing great service.

We were treated extra special with honeymoon amenities with the romantic dinner on the beach, massages, and breakfast in bed. The filled hot tub after our romantic dinner was an added treat.

The one thing that really stands out to us is how friendly all of the servers were, and very helpful. One night I went to fill our ice bucket, barely peaked my head out the door, and one of the room service guys grabbed the ice bucket from me and promptly went to fill it for us.

The grounds and beach here were beautiful, and we really liked the lazy river. We would recommend this adults only resort to others.

March 16-24, annual girl trip to Punta Cana.
No need to repeat the information provided in other reviews previously posted. I will just add our personal observations and comments.
Airport transfer provided by Apple Vacations. We were 6 people in our van. For some reason we had to wait about 15 minutes for another couple who was on our flight.Twenty minutes to hotel First stop was Now Larimar next door. We were cordially greeted by the wonderful Esther Soriano and her front desk staff. We were fortunate to be assigned one of the personal butlers, Alexis. He was there for us 24/7, checking up on us, making our dinner reservations, bringing us rafts for the lazy river, and most importantly following up on the inefficent air conditioning in our room. The front desk staff also were terrific in getting the a/c problem solved.
Room: We were on the top floor in the 4000 group of buildings. I would recommend the 4000 buildings as opposed to the 5000 buildings. My only additional comment about the room is that it had a full size hair dryer (not one of those attached to the wall low volume ones found in many hotels) but bring your own diffuser if you use one. Plenty of space in the room for all of your clothes and personal items but the bathroom does not have any additional storage space for toiletry items that could be stored on a shelf below the sink or somewhere else in the bathroom.
Food: At lunch, look for the grill on the beach just steps down from the outside porch of the main buffet seating. Hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken every day. Fish, steak, and grilled veggies on other days. We ate at the buffet for breakfast every morning and had dinner buffets on Grand/Gala buffet night and Dominican night. The other nights we ate at the 2 sit down restaurants at Secrets. One of these (I don't remember which) has a grilled seafood/fish special on Friday night. I don't eat fish so I asked for just lobster and shrimp. VERY good! We ate at 3 of the specialty restaurants at the Now Larimar next door and did not like them at all. The show cooking at Spice was no "show" with no choice of what we wanted. The Italian was awful with the exception of my carpaccio appetizer. My friend's pasta had less than mediocre canned sauce and my main course was not even warm.
We also ate at the American Grill. Skip it and stay at Secrets!
Beach: Gorgeous. The towel game is in full effect here. I was out by 7 every morning and although I was able to get chairs under a palapa I wasn't able to get "prime" real estate in the front row! Later arrivals may have trouble finding a palapa and/or loungers.
Pool; We enjoyed walking the lazy river for exercise.
Activities: We did exercises in the pool at 3:30 and then spent the rest of the day at the pool until around 6. Great fun at the pool bar.
Every evening you get a printed schedule of the activities for the next day. Included on the schedule is the drink of the day, shows, open restaurants, etc. We did not go to any of the shows or listen to the band in the Secrets plaza starting at around 9:30. We went to the casino every night at the Now Larimar next door. Note, it is a very short walk to the Now Larimar next door. The casino is small. We played blackjack. Watch the dealers for an occasional mistake and don't expect the other players to know how to play! A little frustrating for someone who knows what to do!
Staff: We did not encounter one employee who wasn't exceptional. A special mention to the front desk staff, the hostesses at the restaurants. I can't remember names but thanks to Juan Carlos in the restaurant, Angel at the pool bar, Willy who found my charger in the large hot/cold mug I brought with me.And to everyone else, your dedication and attitude were greatly appreciated. Everyone we dealt with remembered our names, what we like to drink, etc. The entertainment staff are energetic and so hard working.
Liquor: I was very impressed with the quality and variety of liquor and liquers. Top shelf even at the pool and beach.
Misc.: Be careful on the bridges that cross over the lazy river. They are not lit at night. The hotel needs to put lights on them.
Shelving needed in the bathroom.
Bring a hot/cold mug if you have room in your luggage.
Avoid the time share sales people!!! They target couples so we weren't on their radar. But people we met didn't realize that they were "victims" b/c they were approached by the sales people who appeared to be giving them info. about the services of the hotel, etc. They offer coupons for spa services, etc and take up a few hours of time you'd rather be spending on the beach. Don't even get started with them. You are approached almost as soon as you arrive.
We booked our trip with cheappuntacana.com (Happy Landings Travel) Karin, Marcy, and Frank are terrific, hands on, call you back, and a delight to deal with) 866-542-TRIP

I'm in the middle of planning another trip for next summer and realized I never wrote about/shared pictures from the trip last summer. So here goes...I went with a girlfriend on a no-kids, no-cooking, no-cleaning, no-nothing, getaway last July. After EXHAUSTIVE online research and an impressive spreadsheet of options, we chose Secrets Royal Beach. We were not disappointed! The landscaping was lush and tropical--beautiful colors and interesting textures for macro-photography. The rooms were spotless (although ours had a distinct musty smell that required clothing to run through the laundry for 2 cycles to get the odor out when we got home). The beds were nicely firm and comfortable. The bathroom (pictured) was modern and gorgeous. Unfortunately, the electrical outlets (pictured) were different from those in the US and neither of us had thought to bring adapters. We were on a ground floor in the middle of the second building at the far right from the lobby. We didn't notice noise that other reviewers have mentioned. But we could hear the (excellent) jazz band near the lobby from the room. However, it wasn't that late, so it wasn't a problem. There was a coffee/tea maker in the room, but sitting outside at the breakfast buffet with the cool ocean breeze and the sound of the waves was so lovely. And the waiters were so attentive that after the first day, they remembered which table I preferred and how I liked my tea. We did the sea-kayaking a couple times--learned the hard way to go out INTO the wind. ;-) One day we kayaked down the beach quite a ways and had a glimpse at the beach-side of several other resorts. One of the main benefits to this resort is the plethora of seating at the beach. And the huts were wonderfully private for people still trying to ahem, lose that baby weight. We went to several of the restaurants, starting with the Italian one on the NL side. It was tasty, but the overly-bright lighting and not-really-italian decor took away from the experience. Or maybe it was our table against the wall by the door cut off from the rest of the restaurant by a huge table of especially loud visitors (hostesses, please take note). The Bluewater Grill at NL was essentially an American family bar/grill type of place. Potato skins with cheese were served as we were waiting to order, if that tells you what the menu is like. I can't remember the name of the restaurant we went to on the secrets side--it was the one furthest from the beach--that surprised us as being a price-fix type of menu; as in no ordering, no choices, they bring you a succession of tiny little plates for multiple courses, finishing with a lovely desert. Not a place for vegetarians--although everywhere else seemed to have vegetarian options. Oh, and by the way, there were LOTS of healthy, gluten-free, Low-glycemic options available at the buffets. The a-la-carte restaurants post their menus on the door, so you can choose wisely when making dinner choices as well. One thing I didn't know to appreciate at the resort until I started reading reviews for the next girls' getaway is that the restaurants didn't require reservations. Of course, this made for a wait at peak times, but it also didn't require getting up at early morning hours to reserve a table for that evening. We never saw any indoor entertainment, and didn't try the spa-although it was lovely and reasonably priced for a resort spa, but the magician/hypnotist was funny and the jazz band was great. The 'market' they set up one night was fun for shopping, although you'll do best price-wise if you make most of your purchases from one vendor--and come prepared with cash. We took the courtesy taxi operated by the local 'mall' (pictured) which was very much like an open-air mall you might find in Miami; American designer stores--and prices. We never did find a source for 'local' shopping, although we weren't really there long enough to try. Speaking of 'shopping', several reviewers have mentioned "pushy" sales-people, for products or tours. In my experience traveling in LOTS of countries where this is the norm, a simple "no thank-you" ("no, gracias") will suffice. They may continue to talk to you, trying to engage you--that's their job, but you don't have to respond/get mad/continue eye contact. Just keep walking. Overall, we had a wonderful time and both wished we could have stayed more than just a few days. Since we came back and raved about it to our friends, it looks like the no-cooking, no-cleaning, no-kids, no-nothing, girls' getaway is growing this year to include more girls. Being mindful of the diverse personalities of our group, I am confident there will be something for everyone at Secrets/Now Larimar. Look for us in July!

we were very disapointed upon our arrival, its not a great hotel very simple indeed, but we must say that they have an excellent service a1 we would even rate it a plus plus ,, but not to our expectation , they have outstanding staff very nice people i will start with the maid myrna she made up our bed differently every day always had a smile prepared everything very nicely, we also had pleasure speaking with jacky and theodore nice fellows , carlos gave a great show at the beach bar. the secrets is connected with now larimar, tried dinning out at the larimar but waiting time was always 30 to 50 minutes ridiculous even the people at the larimar had a long wait they don: t have enough restaurants too bad. another thing we did not like was that there was not an atm machine at the hotel lobby , they would bring us by cart near the tennis court that is unusual. beach is nice annimation at the pool bar every day some shows were ok . but then you must go to the larimar , the larimar people are not authorized on the secrets side. 3 restaurants at the secrets the steak house the main buffet and oceana so you are stuck with those 3 only since its very difficult to go to the larimar. in our opinion it was an average stay not worth the money would not go back for sure. if we would have known we would have went back to the majestic elegence , but we wanted to try different and boy we saw the difference viva majestic elegence its the best so far in the 4 years we have been to punta cana.

Room Tip: all the rooms on the south side are quiet go for the swim up rooms

We were advised by a client of mine that Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana would be a perfect holiday vacation for adults and if we wanted the perfect break we should try secrets. Well I must say the recommendation was understated. We have been on some beautiful holidays but this has got to be undoubtedly one of the best. The hotel was luxurious, from the accommodation to the many restaurants we were treated special by the waiters, concierges, room service, maids and hotel management. They could not do enough for you to ensure your holiday was a dream come true.
The beaches were great and each morning there were people raking the sand to remove overnight seaweed that had washed ashore. Lying on the glorious beach and having drinks brought to us while we cooked our bodies in the baking sun was something you often read about but seldom experience.
You had the choice to relax in the sun or partake in the many beach activities including volleyball which I have never played before but thoroughly enjoyed. The sports entertainers were fun, engaging and tremendously helpful. I must mention their names so if you decide to visit Secrets Royal Beach you can say hi from us.
Akon, Speedy, Micky Mouse and Barbie are worth their weight in gold, they kept everyone entertained with the various games and activities. Whether you participated or just watched from a far they were a joy to be around and these individuals worked tirelessly to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I feel I should also mention the restaurant and its staff and the way in which they made each encounter with them a pleasurable one.
From the A la carte restaurants to the buffet restaurants, there was always something to entice you back and try something different and we were never disappointed. Juan Carlos Goricia, Manuel Legupvve and their many colleagues always ensured we were comfortable and that our food was (as they would say) excelentay!! They say customer service is everything; well at Secrets Royal Beach the customer service was fantastic.
Would we go back to Secrets Royal Beach Hotel in Punta Cana, well we have been home now just one week and we have already booked to go back for 10 days again in March 2012. If you are looking for the perfect relaxing or fun filed holiday then we would definitely recommend this hotel and resort.

Room Tip: We chose a junior swim up suit which was less than a minutes walk from the beach (room 4166) and it...
