Four of us stayed the final 9 days of a 2 week vacation at the Caribe Club Princess; traveling with a group (FARRT Group, Friends And Relatives Reunion Tour) of 63 Canadians and Americans, adults and children, that travel together every Thanksgiving week. Four of us came down a week early to make sure the coolers were well stocked for the 59 arriving on Nov 22nd. The resort was just re-opening after a total renovation so they had put us up at their sister resort, the Punta Cana Princess for the 1st 5 days. See that review also. We wandered over to the Carbe on the 6th day about noon, went into the lobby and there was about 6 great people there to greet us and get us checked in; providing us with a teriffic welcoming drink, showed us our rooms, brought us back to the Punta Cana Princess to pick up our stuff, and returned us to our new digs. If I remember correctly, there was a total of 16 guests registered that first day and they treated us like royalty. I can't say enough about the service everyone provided throughout our 9 day stay; absolutely outstanding! Beautiful grounds (absolutely beautiful walk between the Lobby and the actual resort buildings), rooms, pool, beach, etc, etc. There were a few very minor gliches being that we were the first 4 people checked in and they getting up to speed after a 3 month layoff, but overall everything was great. Fantastic food, speciality restaurants, pool, beach and if I haven't said it before, outstanding personal service and hospitality. Make sure you check out the Beach Bar with Kelvin and the pool bar with Jose Obama. two outstanding representatives for the Princess group. Both deserve Employee of the Month Awards if they offer them. The group has been to over 10 different resorts and I would rate this one very close to the top. My wife and I have visited probably 20 resorts and we also rank this one close to the top, if not the top of the list. And I won't even talk about value as our Travel Agent, Doug Dixon of Orion Travelinx, Charrisma Travel Group, Burlington Ontario searches throughout the year for good deals for our size group. He did an outstanding job again this year for us; and he travels with us each year!

We had seen this resort while walking along the beaches druing previous stays in Punta Cana and never realized how great a resort that it is. We certainly enjoyed our stay and plan on returning. I would highly recommend this resort to singles, couples, groups, families and anyone looking for a great resort. Tim Fagerstrom

For the price, a great little resort. We had pre teens, teenagers and people from 20 to 70 and everyone had a great time. Minor inconveniences such as 1 key for the room, keys not working, cold water in shower but nothing major. A la cartes were good as was buffett. Great shuttle service around the resort but I loved the walk through the Mangroves to the Lobby. Casino was fun, one of our group won 300, I lost 20 and quit. I saw one show Lion King and was pleasantly surprised about how good it was. The cleanliness and beauty of the resort grounds was extraordinary. Minor things are needed such as painting and repairs but the staff were the friendliest, most smiling people I have encountered in 30 trips the past 10 years. We have stayed at Riu and Ocean Sands in Punta Sands both great but fot the price the Caribe was tops. Not fancy but fun. Just a smile and Hola to everyone and you will have a great time. Give an Hola tl Calvin at the beach bar and Ester in the Buffett restaurant

This hotel is incredible. The rooms were amazing, the beach was beautiful and the restaurant was ridiculous, in a good way. The service we received at this hotel was great, the one think that sticks in my mind is the drinks. The barmen were so friendly, you could actually have a conversation with them and they would let you experiment with cocktails. Free water 24/7, which I thought was a great service. The only thing I didn't like was the walk from reception to the room. It's wetlands and as people tend to feed the birds, when you walk past them, the chase you and it's scary!!!! Also, there are toads that sit on the path at night. Don't worry though all the above can be avoided by taking the train. Definitely go to this hotel, try and stay away during USA holidays, the yanks were a nightmare. Can't handle there drink and scream state chants all afternoon!

We stayed at the Caribe 2nd Sep - 16 Sep and had one of the best hols ever. The hotel is fab, restaurants wonderful and staff and service amazing and really friendly. We have stayed at Dreams/Sunscape the Beach amongst other 4-5* and found this to be just as good and fantastic price. However we found out from others that they were having to move to the Bavaro Princess on the Tues / Wed and we were leaving for home on the Thurs so we stayed. We were really jealous that people were getting an upgrade to a 5* hotel that was supposed to be even better than Caribe and so thought that the hotel must be amazing as we thought Caribe was excellent, yet after reading the 2 previous reviews I am so shocked and glad that we stayed at Caribe - can't believe what happened and suggest that if you are booking Caribe you check beforehand that it will be open for the whole of the stay!! Caribe was great though so I hope this won't affect future business to the hotel.

Ariving at the hotel we were quickly checked in and taken to our room, we were asked if we liked it i said no as it absolutely stank, the lights were on in the afternoon this was due to the balcony being so close to the staff and security path and fence no light was getting into the room. After complaining to Linin the manager and thomson rep we were moved to a nice room overlooking the pool.

After a few days we both came down with diarrhoea and very bad stomach cramps, we found out we were not on our own in this alot of others had it too, some were stuck in there room for 12 days, another wedding party only one came out of there room, it was awful some people had ear infections too.
I take a good assortment of medical kit and most of it was used by several people.

Food where do i start in the two weeks we were there they ran out of bananas, we had icecream once in the buffet restaurant in 2 weeks, ran out of plain tea we were offered strawberry, peppermint or camomile tea i told them i dont like fruit tea, also they only had plain yoghurts and a couple of mandarin ones alot of foods are repetitive.and one night we ordered 2 lamb chops each at the grill in the buffet resaurant there was a spanish lady in front of us eating her lamb chop off her plate while waiting for her piece of chicken to be cooked when she put her half eaten lamb chop back on the griddle, the chef gave her piece of chicken when cooked to her and two of our lamb chops, guess who was in line for her half eaten lamb chop, YES US.
All this was reported and them using the same utencils for raw chicken and cooked beef and lamb.
We did have problems ordering drinks sometimes up to asking 3 times for a drink, it also took them along time in moving our plates when we had finished, sometimes they were still there when we left the retaurant.
In the restaurant too we had seen them bring a birthday cake out singing happy birthday to a spanish, french and dominican girl i asked for one for my husband and a family asked for one for her daughter too we were both told no.

Entertainment there wasnt alot going on in the day not much music by the pool, i saw a swimming race and dance lessons on the beach, there was a game of darts in the afternoon and volleyball.
Evening entertainment shows was for 30 minutes only, we saw 4 shows in 2 weeks the rest of them were audience participation and then the light local music went into the lobby as the disco was closed due to staff telling us the hotel was closing.

The beach and gardens are beautiful, the problem there is the timeshare people that are allowed there especially outside the restaurant bothering you, also twice a week you have a few stalls put up selling local wares you will be given a few free necklaces.

We had security knocking on our door quite regular, when you answered they would just say no problem, on one occassion they were found in a room buffing up the pillows, one family had 40 dollars taken out of there locked suitecase, this was the money they put away to get out of the country.

There were that many complaints by people they had to send someone from the hotel to take notes, the reps were also told about all the complaints.
The hotel new it was closing that is why they were running out of stock and shutting thigs down, the beach snack bar that was supposed to be open at night was also closed. the staff told us they were leaving in less than 2 weeks time, so all the staff knew.

When we were leaving and got to the airport the rep would not let us off the bus until the lads at airport had our suitecases and then walked them 20yds for us and waited for a tip, at check in the lad told us we were over by 2kg over he said thats 40 dollars,he said you help me and i will help you i told him i didnt have 40 he said 20 then , he took the 20 and put it in his pocket i knew we were not over as we had used 8kg of toiletries and left 8 t shirts behind and put our few gifts in our hand luggage.
We never loose weight on holiday but this time we did, would we go back NO.

We lived on toast and frnch fries most of the time.
At the end of our holiday we did a few trips horse riding for 1hr on the beach for 40 dollars each that was very good.
we did the party sunset cruise, snorkelling and dancing about 65 dollars each this was fun, and very good for none swimmers too.
we did do deep sea fishing, it was rough didnt catch anything 180 dollars for us both for 4hrs, we have done this in Cuba and Mexico and Dominican Rep was not as good.

Im sorry to give you alot of negative feed back but i thought you all needed to know what is going on there.
