The facilities were excellent, the service could not be better-but we chose not to do inclusive. We did not want to get stuck with the same hotel food for 6 days, so we went a la carte. Breakfast for two, scrambled eggs, toast and coffee came to $89 including the 28% tax and tip. As a world traveler, this was by far the most expensive breakfast I ever had. In all fairness, the next day, we did without the eggs, and bill was $89. I protested and they reduced the bill by half, which was only $45 for toast and coffee. Finally they realized that this was too high so they charged us for only 2 coffees which came to the bargain price of $16. The other restaurants were also steep beyond belief. Hamburgers for two was only $71.
The pools were excellent but the hotel had very few guests, and we had 3 pools to ourselves. If you want to leave Punta Cana to eat elsewhere the taxi is minimum $50 each way. In Punta Cana there are only three resturants and one is a fast food (but friendly) place.
There is a mall also $55 by cab, which is like a US mall without people and stores not worth going into. They do have a Hard Rock Cafe and an Applebees, but why go to the DR for this.More
