We've visited St. George's, Grenada on many occasions, however, while walking along during our recent visit in Ferbruary 2017, I was looking into store windows and was drawn to Art Fabrik. The shop is lovely, containing batik items and uniquely crafted items.

Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly staff on the main level and then invited to go upstairs to observe their batik process of applying wax to the fabrik. There we met both owners and while chatting, discovered one had lived in Huntington Beach close to our home in California.

We were then invited to go outside into a courtyard area were we further observed the batik process of fabrik dying.

I considered this experience to be an "Unexpected Treat" because had I simply looked straight ahead while walking en route to our intended destination, I would have missed Art Batik. It was a pleasently refreshing time.

Looking forward to visiting again during our next trip to St. George's.

Thank you.
SD

Was great to escape the bustle outside - and the heat. (You almost forgot how warm it was until stepped into the air-conditioned shop).

Lots of wonderful ideas for gifts - both fabric and non-fabric - and some really inspirational ideas. We bought a considerable number of items for friends back home plus a lovely magnetic brightly-painted metal fish that will now adorn a fridge in deepest-France.

Really would recommend seeking out Art Fabrik

This shop in Grenada is not to be missed! I purchased several items including beautiful hand made dinner napkins. There is a gallery located in the back of the shop and well as a working artist studio upstairs.

We have bought shirts, sarongs here over the years and have been impressed with both the attractiveness of the designs and the quality of the work. On this visit we asked to take a look upstairs, on a Saturday so the production wasn't taking place, but we were able to meet the owner and designer. A lovely lady full of enthusiasm for the work and her team. So do make the effort. It's not far up Young Street from the Carenage side and you pass both the Grenada museum and the chocolate museum on the way. Enjoy!
