Just got back home an hour ago !

The food - fabulous as usual ! Best meal was the loin strip at the Manor !

The room - got bumped up several notches to the Romeo and Juliet suites ! Loved it. Had a secluded courtyard in the suite with a hot tub and a separate isolated bar room with a TV which was great on the couple of rainey days.

The shuttles - a real pain for the hillside folks. There are the mini-buses for the Hillside and the maxi-buses for the rounds to the seaside. A lot of time spent just getting shuttled. I believe most of the returning guests know to stay on the seaside where the mini-buses are not used.

The staff - wonderful ! A special thanks to Insane Odane, Tyrone (T-Bone) and Shauna-lee. And the bartender at Jaime's.

Volleyball - of course it depends in part on the guests, but not much activity there, unfortunately, One pool game and one beach game in 8 days !

One blemish - Sandals contracts out the airport shuttles. Today on the way back to the airport, the driver stopped at a roadside mart and bought beer which he consumed during the 2 hour ride back to the airport. Fortunately, Sandals has a toll free number to report these kinds of things. Been to Jamaica many jtimes and I have never seen this before.

Nightly entertainment - very good.

Internet - spotty up in the room. Was perfect at the Great house, which is the base on the Hillside.

TV channels - good selection. Would like to see CNBC return to the channel mix.

Valentino's - should be a reservation restaurant ! Took 3 tries to get in there. Much easier for the people staying on the seaside side.

Spa - did not get there, which is unusual for us.

Resort selection - Will probably go back to Negril, Antigua, Nassau, and Whitehouse before returning to Ocho Rios again. This was our 12th Sandal's trip and our first to Ocho Rios.

Room Tip: Romes and Juliet suite - loved it. Private secluded pool and hot tub with a separate bar room with...

I see positive reviews about this resort and don't know how. Terrible service, no towels at the pools, the great house pool only had 10 pool floats and if you weren't up at the crack of dawn to get one you did not get to use one. People put them by their lounge chairs and do not share. The only positives about this resort are Lopez and Bishop, 2 of the bartenders, and Kimono's restaraunt. I am so pissed at the lack of service I may not visit another Sandal's again.

We spend easter week at the Grande Riviera - Beach Side.
We stayed at the Banyan Grove Honeymoon Hummingbird Hideaway (2048-building 4)

First make sure you file out everything on the front and back including the departure part of your immigration form. When you go to the immigration area no matter what make sure someone stays on the line because they have several flights arriving at the same time. It took us exactly 1 hour do get to an immigration officer.

When you get to Sandals waiting room they will inform you when the next bus will be. If you have a to wait they have private bathrooms and drinks available. The tipping begging process will start with the guys on red shirt. They are subcontractors that will take your bags to the bus. They will make sure they let you know that "they are expecting" to get a tip even if it's to only take your bags from a 100 ft distance.
The bus had a/c, music and a huge sign about tipping. It was almost 2 hrs drive to go to Sandals. We had 2 stops of about 15 minutes each. It was 3 hours to go to the airport as we had a flat tire. Driver was very unprofessional and rude. We notice there was a problem but he didn't want to talk with us. He continue to drive until the bus give up on him. A bus come to rescue us after 1 hour waiting. You maybe be better if you arrange a private service.

The pre checking online didn't speed our check in at all.

During your check in please DO MAKE your restaurant reservations because they are taken fast. Keep in mind that you can make more then one reservation for the same restaurant - if you wish.

They are Kimonos-Japanese and Kelly-Int Cuisine/steak&Sea Food.

To us Kimonos and Kelly's were not that a big of a deal as they make sound. It was a ok food.

Neptune's had a really good sea food. We also had a great time when served buy Ricardo Laird. He was awesome!!! Very fan, helpful and friendly.

The Valentinos(Italian) was also really good. We had a really good steak there and had a great experience been served by Sofhia.

During the day do stop at the Marines Grill to try their coconut shrimp or they jerk food.Good!!!

The dinner on the Reef Terrace didn't exceed our expectations. The Jamaican soup was the only good thing.

The pizzeria was our emergency food place. It was good for the purpose of snack. The servers there were also phenomenal cool!!!

Our room was spacious, clean and 100 % renovated. Your a/c will be set to not go bellow 70F. However if you do prefer I colder room just call the front desk. They will send someone to change it for you. Front and patio door are equipped with a sensor that will turn your a/c off every time it's in use.
Our "building" was quite however as we were close to a small volleyball pool and the unphethreat we did hear some noise here or there. Thankfully we always care ear plugs with us.

Breakfast on the Bayside restaurant was good. They had healthy food( boiled eggs, wheat bread,....), omelet station and much more.

We do agree that appetizers and meals do come in a real small size. We do recommend you to order 1 appetizer each and 2 entrees. They will combined the entrees in 1 plate.

Now If you do want a chair on the pool or on the beach you do need to get there early as a lot of people will come early to put their personal items on the chairs and leave for breakfast. You may want to consider to gift ($$) some of the water sports guys.  They will become your personal chair butlers. Lol!!! They will have a chair with towels every day just for you. They will bring you drinks and snacks as well. It's worth!

Bars open at 10 am. You also want to consider to give some $$ to the bar guy if you do wish to be served really well.I mean faster.

If you don't want to spend a fortune make sure you bring sunblock, waterproof camera and some candies if you do have a late sweet tooth.
They do provide you with shampoo, conditioner and soap. There is also a very nice
(green) bottle of aloe that do wonders after a day in the sun. They will provide you as many as you need.

If you are staying on the Riviera side and spent the day at the Ochi Bch Club (left side of the beach) try to consider their bus. They will take you to the main lobby in less then a minute. This will save you some energy as there are tons of stairs here and there.

They offer a few water sports free of charge. Snorkeling is really cool!!Try to go in the morning as the sun will make it clear and beautiful!! Diving is free after you pay a one time fee (like $80) to get certified for the resort only).

Also when you do your resort check out try to consider the VIP Room service called  Mobo Club. It's $ 30 per person. They will take you to an express immigration line. Plus they Have a VIP lounge which includes: snacks, beverages(including alcoholics) and wifi Internet. Trust me That airport will be full like a zoo and it will be hot. Very worth!

So far the only small complain we had it was with the housekeeping service. I had to chaise them every evening in order to have service. Other than that we would recomend this resort to anyone low key who wants to relax and have some fun at the one love land!!!!Yes Mon!!!

PS: As mentioned by others before please keep in mind that most employees will work long hours so keep it simple and cool. Treat others as you would like to be treated!

Room Tip: Riviera side if you don't mind noise.

This was a very relaxing vacation (honeymoon). It was our first trip to a Sandal's resort. Overall it was a great trip. The rooms are close to being out dated, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. The food isn't as good as on a cruise, but you can eat all you want. The staff was mostly pretty nice. Since you can't tip, they aren't in a hurry to get things done, but still are pretty friendly. The cove area of the beach was awesome- we swam with and fed the fish each day!
