Reina del Mar was a highlight of our trip to San Juan, and we discovered it unexpectedly! We had been "in the neighborhood" for another purpose, and checked Yelp and Trip Advisor for a great restaurant that we could walk to. After walking about 20 minutes, we found the restaurant, and at first, weren't even sure it was open. We were delighted when we walked in, saw beautiful white tables clothes, professional looking staff and, always a plus, it seemed to be filled with locals! Between our broken Spanish, and their challenged English, we managed to have the best dining experience! I started with the Pulpo, and it was fresh, tender, and served with a light vinaigrette dressing. The portion size was very large, probably meant to be shared, but perfect just for me. I ordered the Halibut, and my husband the Snapper. The fish was SO fresh, and again, the portion size was substantial. The sauce complemented but did not overpower the dish. We were not offered a wine list, so not sure if there is one, however, when we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, they brought a bottle out that was very good. It was $60, and probably a bit more than we might have spent, but not seeing the wine list, not given the choice. That was a little weird. The service was exceptional. Very attentive and professional. Now, as mentioned, this was a little out of the way for us (staying in Isla Verde). Can't say if this would be worth a long cab ride, but it really was great. As we left, we were given a card for their other restaurant Candela which is in Isla Verde. We had hoped to go, but ran out of time. It seemed to be rated well, so next time!

This is hidden gem for seafood, right in the middle of Hato Rey. The place is not fancy, it is mostly like a business meeting restaurant, but the food is good and so is the service. I would go again. I recommend it.

We booked the place for a private party to celebrate my fathers birthday. The food was excellent and the service perfect. They went out of their way to make the night special for my family and guests. My family visits for dinner weekly. I would recommend to anyone.

Excellent service in this restaurant. You will love the taste. They are waiting for you at the valet parking. Can order any kind of food, but of course their main dishes are fish.
You can ask to do any sauce. Pleasant atmosphere. Enjoy. Perfect location, next to the courthouse, in the middle of Hato Rey.

Be sure to make arrangements for key pickup BEFORE you arrive in Puerto Rico. we had to wait over 2 hours after arriving to the condo while trying to communicate with someone that speaks NO English while I speak/text OK Spanish.the housekeeper met us at the condo 2 hours later and we were texting and calling between 3 different people in order to get in the parking lot.

The parking lot is gated, the door is gated, the pool is gated, the beach access is gated (need keys).

The condo was great! Beautifully decorated. We didn't spend a whole lot of time here as we were exploring PR...driving & traffic SUCKS! Be prepared & rent the GPS (also pay attention to map on GPS because the navigator gives incorrect voice instructions sometimes). The road signs are impossible to use and find anything.

We are leaving garbage bags, toilet paper, and paper towels for the next guest. although we seemed to have plenty for our 1 week stay. We went to Walmart and bought groceries & supplies.

Don't walk down the street by the condo at night because the road by the hotel looks shady. We walked on beach and cut through el San Juan casino.

catamaran snorkeling to vieques and culebra island is at puerto Del ray marina. We used east island excursions. They DO NOT guide you in the water for snorkeling. They point you in a direction and send you on your way. The catamaran doesn't have the net on the back for you to relax on...it was indoor or a very SMALL amount of outdoor sitting (kind of like a bus with tables)....the crew was so fun and made great drinks....ask for the captains special....kaila was fun and made sure you were taken care of.

Old San Juan was pretty cool to explore and shop.

Bio bay is in fajardo at a park on the beach. They set up with kayaks at 5pm-get there at 4pm to get a spot-or try to reserve online. we got discounts for paying in cash...went from $52pp to $35pp. We kayaked at night at bio bay and could barely see anything glowing even after the tarp was covering us all. I REALLY enjoyed kayaking at night. was so fun!

El yunique forest was pretty cool. Don't pay to enter the tourist area...just drive to sites and you will see the signs for parking. First stop is waterfall from road, second stop is lighthouse, 3rd stop you park & hike down trail for 30min to big waterfall with lagoon....

Chicken fights on sat was fun! (Across the street). Won $$

All in all it was a good stay. the locals aren't hustlers- you have to work hard to find souvenirs....Cancun is better & cheaper.

Thank Anne C
