The Hacienda was a wonderful home base for our 5 day exploration of Vieques. It's in a great location. Only a short drive to Esperanza where you will find a few decent restaurants. And from Esperanza it's a hop, skip, and a jump to Sun Beach- one of Vieques many fabulous beaches. All of the staff from the front desk to the kitchen staff were lovely. Helpful and accommodating even in a crisis (there was an island wide black out while we were there but because of the Hacienda's generator we weren't effected). The owners, Linda and Burr and their dog, Zach, were a warm presence. We did, however, get a little tired of the rather boring breakfast. It was tasty but it could use a little more creativity. We loved the box lunches in the knapsacks. Once we had our knapsacks, beach chairs, towels and coolers stocked with water (all courtesy of the Hacienda) we were off for the day. The beaches are amazing. You don't want to leave at the end of the day -let alone the end of your vacation!

We found Hacienda Tamarindo online when we planned a getaway to Puerto Rico and wanted an "eco-adventure" on the world famous Bioluminescent Bay there on Vieques. The island vibe is totally laid back. No hassle, no pressure, no night life --but ohhhh the total relaxation on an easy going little island only 20 mins. via Cape Air. Hacienda Tamarindo has an upscale, friendly "flip-flops" all day kind of atmosphere. A Tamarindo tree grows through the roof in the tasteful, eclectic lobby. Their big, low-key bear of a dog lays around the place but never bothers anyone. Delicious breakfasts prepared for us on the outdoor tiled veranda and a do-it-yourself bar downstairs in the living room area. Spectacular breeze off the ocean + awesome view = the best getaway we've ever had for total relaxation!!

We had such a beautiful, laid back, and relaxing stay at the Hacienda Tamarindo for our friends wedding. The place has such charm with beautiful views of the ocean. The staff was lovely on all levels. The breakfast was good (especially the oatmeal and I was never a huge fan until I had it here- wish I got the recipe). They also had a great juice selection (passion, tamarindo, etc). There were beach chairs, beach towels, and even a cooler in our room to use for the beaches which was great since the beaches are so secluded. If you dont feel like going to the beach the hammock and pool was a great place to relax. I would definitely recommend this place for a laid back destination wedding. My friends got married on a beach near by and then had an amazing, beautiful reception/party at the Hacienda after the cermony. A little side note: Please remember this is the carribean and there are going to be bugs and little critters that may get into your room. Skin so soft worked the best for me to keep the bites away and any bites that were obtained were well worth it :)

This is our 4th time to the island and to the hacienda and we just booked rooms for next year. The hotel is just like the island. Low key, comfortable totally relaxing. The views are just spectacular from many of the rooms and the pool. Linda/Birr and Jim always contribute to making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

We arranged a last minute stay over Christmas for a week. The staff were fantastic and friendly, helping with rental car (a must on this island) and connecting flight suggestions beforehand, and couldn't have been better on check-in and during our stay.
The property is gorgeous with views and a pool, and the building charming. The rooms have ceiling fans and A/C (although we left ours off) and have louvered, screened windows which lets you sleep with the gentle sound of the wind blowing through the palm trees.
Breakfast was great and you can order a travel cooler with lunch made from the kitchen to take to the beach.
Whilst not in town or by the beach, Esperanza is only a 3 minute drive and everything else is not far.
This is not a glitzy hotel - for that stay at the W - but it is beautifully appointed and friendly and was perfect for us. My wife and I can't wait to come back!
