“The absolute best way to celebrate our 25th anniversary!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2012

What can I say, everything was perfect. Even the weather cooperated except for one day of rain. This was our first visit to a Sandals and we will definitely return. The service, staff, and accommodations were top notch. Nowhere else have we had a regular call to our room to ask if everything was to our satisfaction and to ask if there was anything else they could do for us. Really? I couldn't think of anything more. We were already being treated like royalty.
I will start by commenting on the maintenance, housekeeping and pool staff. These people work hard. The grounds keeper was grooming the lawn with a weed whacker! Deborah was our housekeeper and she was the sweetest and nicest woman. Always had a smile and friendly words. All of these people take great pride in their work and you can tell they love their jobs.
The restaurants were all wonderful. We didnt have a bad meal the entire week. The staff and chefs were all very friendly and efficient. We went to LaToc for our anniversary dinner and it was really great. Only thing I can say that was a little odd was that being a French restaurant, you would think it would play some French music but there was nothing. It was too quiet. We also visited the English Pub at the Grande. That too lived up to our expectations.
I also want to say hello to Playmaker Michael! What a fun time with pool volleyball we had. I hope you follow your dream of becoming a pilot!
The management at Sandals Halcyon is the best. Where else would you see the manager of an establishment clearing tables or loading luggage to help out the working staff. Everyone works together here.
This Sandals is the smallest of the 3 and we visited both of the others but are glad we chose Halcyon. The grounds are lush and absolutely beautiful and the whole resort has a more laid back aura to it. For fun we did offsite excursions like the Zip Line Adventure. Highly recommended but beware of all the stairs! We also did the Soufriere Adventure Cruise. Had a blast. We were very impressed with the knowledge of the guides in the botanical gardens and at the volcano.
To sum up, this was a vacation we will remember all our lives. I would recommend Sandals Halcyon to anyone who asks and even to those who don't!!

Room Tip: We were in the Laborie Building and it is close to the highway. There was some road noise if you wer...

We had a week long vacation here, our first sandals resort, and we loved it. This resort is the smallest, which we liked. It didn't feel like we were in a hotel, but a little bungalow instead. Our room was upgraded for us since it was our 5 year latter honeymoon! Very nice. The room could use an update but very clean and fine for us, we aren't fussy. Couldn't hardly hear the road noise. Beautiful grounds. Never had trouble finding a beach chair or a pool chair. Visited the other sandals and didn't like them as much as ours. Great for dinning though. Food everywhere was wonderful. I had the best steak of my life at the pier and that coming from a midwesteren is a big deal! Highly recommend juliens tour. Great time, small groups. Wonderful vacation.

Returned yesterday after an absolutely fabulous week at Sandals Halcyon. Like many others I read and re-read all reviews so I'll try and give an honest assessment and put some myths to bed.

Arrival at Airport:- Very efficient. I loved the rum punch. Don't allow a porter to take your bags as Sandals room is about 20 yards away.

Journey to resort - Halcyon was 1 hour 15 mins, the Grand would be at least 15 minutes longer. You are met with a warm towel, glass of champers and your first experience of the friendly staff. Without asking we were immediately upgraded to an Ocean view room.

Accommodation - Delightful, no complaints whatsoever. We were in the bigger but older rooms near the gardens and loved it. Mini bar of soft drinks, always full.

Restaurants - Pier was nice, nothing special. Bayside Grill has an varied menu (Asian night was lovely) Beach bar was always great for grilled chicken, burgers etc but Marios was far and away the best restaurant. Try the tender steak;cooked to perfection my mouth is watering just thinking about it now. We did try to book at Le Toc and The Grande but to no avail. Actually pleased we were unsuccessful now

Service/ Staff - The real stremgth of this resort. Nothing is too much trouble. Because Halcyon is small, the staff realy get to know you. Some guests go too far,in my opinion, by trying to pretend they are friends. (Grow up please....... they ARE brilliant staff but once you are gone the next weeks guests arrive) I am not going to thank individual members of staff on this review because they are all friendly and lovely.

Weather - Rain in the early morning, clearing up by 9am to provide hot partially cloudy weather. Beautiful in the afternnoons.

Pools- Both lovely and plenty of sun beds. We went to the main pool in the morning and Paradise in the afternoon after lunch.

Bars- I had to wait two minutes once for service! All the top brands available and brilliant cocktails. We had a BBC as our elevenses on the basis that the banana made it one of our five a day.

Boat trip - We booked via the hotel Joe Knows boat tour. Tip: book on the beach and get $24 off. The tour itself was fantastic fun. Big Al was terrific from start to finish, plenty of Rum and Coke. Joe Knows Good Vibes!!!

Beach - Intimate, private and very quiet. The locals are friendly and we didn't find them pushy at all. Just good fun.

The Grand - we visited once and found it huge, rather unattractive, gaudy and noisy. We ate at a beachside grill which was ok but nothing more. I think this resort may be more suited to our American friends. Bars absolutely packed.

Le Toc - Claustrophobic unless you have your own private accommodation well away from the centre. The beds were so close together around the pool to make you feel very uncomfortable. Nobody we spoke to at The Halcyon had much good to say about either of the two resorts.

And finally myths:

Airport noise - For goodness sake the odd flight was hardly annoying. We timed our day by 5 o'clock Charlie (For those who used to watch M*A*S*H)

Cats - a few but only in an around the beach grill. Not a problem and would be less so if guests didn't feed them.

Entertainment - During the day if you wanted to join in with pool volleyball, shuffleboard etc you could. If not, nobody harassed you to do so. I do think this resort might be more suited for those over 35 though.

Overall: Elaine and I had an absolutely fantastic time, definitely made the right choice. We'd go back to-morrow

Just returned from St Lucia, and my wife and I had a wonderful time.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
This is a smaller resort than The Grand or La toc, so does not have as many restaurants or bars, this we knew and was not a problem.
Actually we found it more intimate.
I dived most days, and found it really good, espacially the wreck dives.
The crew are very helpful and there is a small shuttle bus to take you, even waiting for stragglers!
The PIer and Marios we found excellent, not as brash as The Grand(which we also tried),
but service and food excellent.
We have been to a couple of other Sandals, and this rates with them.
I would like to thank all the staff there for making our stay really enjoyable!

Room Tip: Avoid around Marios

If you are looking to be spoiled in every way you need to book a vacation here ! The staff and management could not do enough to make sure your stay was the best you could ever imagine. The scenery was breath taking and the tropical feel was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. You would not be disappointed - I promise :) Special shout out to Deborah who made sure our room was kept immaculate and had a smile for us every morning. Thank you to our travel agent (Marlin Travel) who went that extra mile to ensure the smallest details were taken care of - like a prebooked reservation to the French restaurant at the neighboring Sandals (Le Toc) for Valentine's evening. Shuttles are available throughout the day to visit the other 2 Sandals resorts which you can go to for the day or evening (or both) free of charge - but you'll need to make reservations if you want to eat at the other resorts (no need to reserve for your own resort). Very friendly and worth the money to stay here !
