My fiancee and I arrived at the Windjammer a day late after a Jet Blue mechanical issue, but were motivated to have a good time. We rented a car to ensure we can see the island in its entirety. Upon checking into the Windjammer after some unique traveling (steering wheel on the right side and very narrow roads) we were greeted with great kindness and sincereity from Linden who worked at the front desk. Throughout the week, he was continually checking in with us to ensure we were having a good time. He gave us a bottle of champagne for it being out honeymoon and was a pleasure meeting. The 2 bedroom villas at the resort are breath taking and the 1 bedroom villas are also quite nice. The restaurants were all fairly priced with some good food. The bar, Jammers, had a great bartender (Daniel) who was really fun to talk with. He was always fast, courteous, and enjoyable to see each evening. We met Cornelius in security and he also was very welcoming and a great guy. Lanyve worked in the marketing department and also went out of her way to ensure we were enjoying our Windjammer stay by recommending certain events and informing us on others to allow us to make sound decisions.

We saw nearly every inch of the island through a guided tour which was terrific. Our biggest highlight off the resort was Ziplining by Canopy Adventures. The lava bath and volcano were neat to see, Marigot Bay was beautiful, and Castries had some great historical landmarks including the Governor House and a beautiful Catholic Church.

Our only negative of the trip besides the cancelled JetBlue flight was the Fish Fry every Friday evening. We went with a party of 5 and from 9PM to 11PM was a great time. After 11PM, the locals get quite drunk and definitely push the alcohol on the tourists and by midnight they were demanding our money. One local was talking about his machete and how we wanted to cut us up for our wallets. My advice, leave by 10:30PM the latest. I definitely took out my frustration on the gentlemen at the front desk of the windjammer (which I should not have), but it was frustrating as after we tried reporting to the local police, they did not care and weren't going to send a cop over to the hotel until the following evening which is unacceptable.

Room Tip: Recommend Paying more and getting the 2 bedroom.

Congratulations on your recent marriage! I'm glad Linden, Daniel, Lenyve, and Cornelius were so helpful to you. At the same time, I am sorry about the incident at the Fish Fry. I hope you come back and let us help you celebrate your anniversary!

It looks very pretty but the roads are extremely steep and also many steep steps. It can be irritating to have to wait for a shuttle bus.
It is annoying having to book well head to get a seat in the restaurants. I turned up at Papa Don's restaurant when they were opening and they found me a table (lovely setting and nice atmosphere) - the same thing didn't happen at Upper Deck. I ate at the bar/restaurant which was OK.
How ever early you walk on to the beach all the sun loungers are covered in towels and possessions - they are empty most of the time and you can find a lot of the people up by the pool. There are a lot of spare sun loungers but there is no where left in a shady position. The people with the towels are not Germans they are English!
I found it particularly irritating to have people on site trying to sell timeshare. They were a pain in the neck. All in all it seemed like an upmarket Butlins.
Sometimes it would be nice to have a drink at the property but it would be impossible to carry it back by shuttle bus and service to the room would expect a large tip.
I was pleased that I was not charged any extras on "all inclusive" as some other places do.

Thank you for your review. I appreciate the feedback. We're ordering some new shuttles and we've taken some steps to make sure we focus our timeshare discussions on guests who are interested. Please contact me if you change you mind and decide to come back - I am confident you will have a great experience.

Just returned from a fabulous holiday here. Amazed how anyone could not enjoy this place. We were in villa 504 which was very clean, spacious and the most amazing views. Did the all inclusive option which was great as no worries about huge bill at end of your holiday. Food was excellant in all restaurants and never had a problem getting into a restaurant even making a reservation an hour before hand.. We found the resort offered wonderful service from all the staff from Helen our ambassador, to our lovely maid who cleaned our villa every day. Nothing was a problem here. All staff made you feel so welcome here. Beach was clean and plenty sunbeds on Jammers Bar doorstep and Embers beach restaurant too. Try the Ja chicken wrap at lunchtime if you like a spicy kick. . All in all, thank you Windjammer for a wonderful holiday which we will remember for a long time.PS We even loved the liquid sunshine!!

Room Tip: Request one of the villas higher up.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is spectacular, with rooms set up on a cliffside. The hotel staff were friendly and gracious. St Lucia outside the resort (Castries in particular) while safe and picturesque, was a bit ramshackle and disappointing. SNUBA trip, horseback riding on the beach, and zip line trip were fantastic.

Biggest shock on the trip were the food prices at the restaurants at the resort. Family of 4 could easily spend $50 to $75 US for breakfast or lunch...dinner was generally good (service at Jammer's was generally horrible) but never under $150 US and with a drink or two $200 or more. Going all inclusive would have cost our family of 4 about $500 a day and really didn't include much beyond food. We had breakfast in the room every day...we would never have gotten our kids up for breakfast!

Thank you for taking time to complete a review on our resort. I'm glad you enjoyed most aspects of your stay!

We constant look at the prices on our menu - being mindful of the higher cost of food on the island. We strive to keep pricing fair and always looking at other restaurants on the island as a comparison point. We find our prices generally consistent with other establishments.

Our AI price is US $150 per day for adults; less for teens and children. As you noted, the cost for 4 could work to only be only slightly more than what you paid for dinner. Our AI, in contrast to some other resorts, does include alcoholic beverages with the exception of bottles of wine. So, the AI can be a great value! Moreover, our all inclusive plan also includes some water sports activities and other elements which further increase its value.

I hope you'll look at coming back - I'll make sure we do a better job of explaining the AI and any other applicable promotions so you maximize the value of your stay.

The rooms: The hibiscus suite was very nice, with great views, spacious balcony with hot tub and everything you need (except no exhaust fan or solid door from bedroom to bathroom- just slats-yikes!). Also very clean. Beds and pillows were comfy.

The beach: We loved it - the trampoline made it the best! They do need to maintain the tie downs for the padding on the springs, which were showing wear and starting to break loose, but I assume they will. We read the comments about too small an area to swim and disagree - plenty of room to have fun, and despite lots of kids at the resort, it was never crowded at all and no problem finding empty loungers, which is a challenge with many resorts we have been to. Having a sunning deck, trampoline, etc to swim to made this a stand out beach experience.

The only problem was the billing and the charges. We were on the MAP plan, which is breakfast and dinner, all prepaid. We tried to give them our voucher on check-in, but were hustled to our room with no explanation and told it was not needed. Wrong! For the rest of the trip we were charged for some covered meals, and not for others, with no logic. Went down the first morning to try to fix it and started what became an ongoing routine of being told it was remedied and then finding out it was not. It was very frustrating to have to do repeatedly when we wanted to relax for one hassle-free week. Unfortunately, on our first full day when this could have been cleared up, we encountered the only unpleasant person at the front desk, who said her name was Michelle (no name tag). Run if you get her -she was extremely accusatory about it and actually told us in all seriousness we had only signed up to eat our week's worth of meals all on the night of arrival. She finally begrudgingly told us it was fixed; sadly it was not and thus was launched the week of ridiculousness.

On the other hand, Nick, Judy and Donizette at the front desk were all very helpful and Nick finally helped us fix it when we checked out. Donizette is a gem- she was absolutely wonderful throughout our stay here and her sunny disposition and can-do attitude helped counteract some of the frustration we were feeling. She should be promoted! The ongoing struggle over meals was a bit of a bummer hanging over the trip and in our many trips to the desk over this issue we heard two other people checking out and complaining about charges on their bill that were incorrect. So check your bill carefully. This should not be a problem when they clearly have computers.

And beware - if you are on the partial meal plan, you will be charged for every iced tea refill - two of us had a (small) glass of plain iced tea for dinner and 2 refills and got whacked with a $33 dollar (EC) bill! Of course we expected to pay for alcholic or specialty drinks, but when paying thousands in US dollars to stay there, charging a fortune for non-alcholic iced tea refills or coffee seems petty and it marred the hospitality vibe we expected. Also, make sure you make reservations for Papa Dons, the Upper Deck or the Dragonfly restaurant.

Tours: The lady at the tour desk (Germaine?) was extremely helpful and gracious without being pushy and if you take the Soufriere Land and Sea tour, try to get Lisa for the jeep part - she was so much fun - definitely the best of all the tour guides and truly made the trip worth it. And the zip line adventures tour was a blast -even in the rain!

Hope this is helpful - bottom line is make sure you stay on top of your bill as they seem very disorganized, although there were many good people working there that helped in the long run.

Thank you for the time and energy you put into you review. Of course, I appreciate the very positive things you said about Donizette, Nick, Judy, and Gema. We'll make sure they are thanked for the great work they did for you. We'll follow-up with Michelle and I've already asked our team to look at the trampoline. I am sorry you had such a challenge with your meal plan; our team is already taking steps to make sure this is a hassle-free experience. In response to your comment about the iced tea charges, we have already changed our policy and now we will not charge for refills. Thanks for bringing this up for our discussion. (When you come back, I'll put a jug of iced tea in your villa!)

We look forward to having you back soon.
