We stayed at this hotel having been told that this was the place to go!! I must start by saying that we are just an average hard working couple and we make the best of what we have in all circumstances, right that said i feel i would like to point out a few matters that you may or may not want to know and having travelled the carribean alot i feel as if i am not talking blind about these matters.
Right the positives : staff excellent , the grounds are stunning, the beach wonderfull, the room excellent (sea veiw room) , clean ,well run, excellent facilities, good position, entertaiment very good.
negatives (my opionion thats all!!)
The buffet food in the evening was different, the quality was ok but the combination was awfull, yes you could eat but certainly was not what i have expected from the carribean, we were not the only people to say this. Although to get round this i would advise you to book trysting resturant every night of your stay as soon as you get there, they do not tell you you can do this but you can!! the fine dining resturant is excellent, the food wonderfull the staff in there are second to none. I must state though i like to sit down and make an evening of my nightime meal and this resturant suits me rather than a buffet and the rush too get too the food.!!
ok the big talking point, the airport and graveyard......... what graveyard?? you did not know it was there unless you walked down the beach and lets face it how many noisy graveyards have you been too???? the aiport on the other hand you do know is there, after reading about the few planes that take off i did not feel this too be a problem as some people said there was only a few flights in and out, can i please say i can only comment on the 2 weeks i was there so i reckon this can change : the earliest plane we heard was 06.20 and the latest was 01.45. i would say that on average there was about 20 planes a day in total and they were not jet engines and although some were louder than others and you knew they were there you did get used to it too the point of not knowing!!!.
We upgaded our room to a sea view room, the room was stunning, however if you look at my pictures you will see what the comments about privacy on the terrace is all about, i found this too really let the room down and at another 1000 pound i feel it was not worth it as the other rooms you got 2 chairs, a table, privacy!!.
We did have a great time and met some lovely people (staff and guests) and would certainly not want too put you off going here.
St Lucia seems to have its fair share of beggers wherever you go and you can be intimidated by it, just say no firmly and that should be the end of it.
there is a guy selling gifts etc everynight in the hotel by the bar, have a look he is a very nice man and sell nice cuban cigars cheaper than anywhere on the island and he appreciates your custom.
I would mark this hotel 5 out of 5 if it was not for these few things, however the staff and people really do make up for these little things.
