We've never once gone back to the same place twice. Rendezvous is the exception.
My husband and I got married here in 2004 and we've talked about going back ever soon. This summer we actually did and it was every bit as good as we remembered. There has been a few changes since we were last there and it has made this place even more special.
I could not recommend this hotel highly enough - the hotel and the grounds are beautiful, the staff is so friendly and helpful, the food is of really high quality and all drinks are of a very high standard.
We stayed in a verandah suite on both visits. This visit we were in room 219 and it was perfect. Spacious, very clean and with a huge balcony. The balcony was not overlooked at all and had a lovely view of the garden and sea. So special to sit on the daybed at the end of the day and watch the sunset.
I just can't fault the place and we can't wait to return again. It is not big and flash but it is a true little paradise.

Dear mimselina,

It was an absolute pleasure taking care of you and your husband for a second time. We had a wonderful time taking care you you both in 2004, and we were very happy to repeat this year.

We are very happy that you enjoyed all of our renovations, including the recently refurbished Verandah Suites.

Thank you so much for once again choosing the holiday of StolenTime. We look forward to seeing you again on the third visit!

Warm regards,

Team Rendezvous!

My husband and I holidayed here for 10 nights at the end of August. We had chosen this resort (mainly) for being adults only, all inclusive and a la carte! We had a couple of issues (which i will come to) but all in all we had a fantastic holiday. It's a beautiful place, with well maintained grounds, a lovely beach, clear & clean sea, helpful & friendly staff, plenty of choices of drink, and (mostly) excellent food.
Unfortunately our first impressions were not good though, we tried 3 different rooms before we were finally put in one with adequate air conditioning, we couldn't believe it! It was about 29 degrees outside and about 28 inside these rooms!! The 3 rooms were all different categories and places within the complex, so i assume the A/C problem is widespread. This really needs addressing in my opinion. So finally we move to room number 4 and it's perfect, 22 degrees and cool. It was a verandah room which is a higher category than we paid for. We loved it! Best bed ever! So comfortable, we slept so well. Once settled in here we realised the flush was faulty on the toilet, we could have wept! We just wanted to start our holiday & relax. Luckily this was fixed quickly and that was our last problem. We were compensated with a bottle of wine with an apology note & an extended check out time of 4pm. The rest of the holiday was really relaxing, we loved lunch at the Malabar and dinner at the Trysting, both served delicious food. The champagne bar was a lovely touch & it was great to have an hour of A/C in there, although one night it broke & it was suffocating- we didn't stay long. The beach BBQ was a fun evening, the worst food though was the buffet. Definitely not 5 star! We couldn't understand how you could serve that up to guests who were eating at the Trysting the next night, total inconsistency.
One thing which annoyed me was the other guests feeding the damn cats! Every meal we had them around our legs begging for food. I shooed them off but other guests encouraged them by feeding them, we are not all animal lovers, i'm allergic to them and don't want them around me, especially when i'm eating.
Our favourite staff members were Yannick (drinks) & Francis who met us with a smile every morning at breakfast. They are a credit to your hotel. The cleaning staff also did an excellent job, the place is spotless!
All in all a lovely relaxing holiday, thank you Rendezvous.

Room Tip: We loved our final room, number 115

We did the helicopter transfer to the resort which was wonderful. Unfortunately we were eventually told on the day of departure that there were not enough people booked for the return flight so it was cancelled. We are still in discussion with Virgin trying to secure a refund. Arrival was a very short hop from the helicopter landing point and checki in was painless. We had a seaside suite which was spacious and clean and well maintained throughout by Francis. We particularly liked the evening turn down and candles service. A definite highlight of our holiday was the food, particularly the trysting place, undoubtedly the best all inclusive food we'd ever had. A big thank you to Matilda and Carmen for the quality of their service and attention. . The beach side Malaga restaurant was excellent at lunchtimes. The breakfasts were consistently good, especially the egg station superbly marshalled by the delightful Veronica. We particularly enjoyed the champagne bar and spent a very enjoyable hour there every evening. We preferred the quiet pool and were kept well lubricated by the staff who instantly brought drinks for us. We also enjoyed a glass of wine in the main bar overlooking the beach to watch the sun go down. It is a public beach and the locals are not an issue normally. We had one evening when we were confronted with a local whipping a horse with a leather strap. Several of our fellow guests were also disturbed by this and we spoke to the staff in the reception who basically dismissed us with " it's a public beach" Maybe the St Lucia tourist board could consider the experience that holidaymakers are witnessing and the effect it would have on the islands reputation. At that point we returned to our room to find baited cage traps set up to catch the kittens that roam the grounds. Indeed a mother and four of her five kittens disappeared leaving one stranded kitten that was not fully weaned from her mother to fend for herself. We found several other fellow guests who were upset at witnessing kittens captured and simply put in a sack like bag. We saw quests activating the traps and we registered our dissatisfaction with the staff. Later we had a phone call from the hotel manager defending the practice, and we explained that it was not what we would expect in an environment that sells itself as stolen precious time. Without those two unfortunate experiences one after the other we would have probably given the hotel a five out of five rating, unfortunately they tainted our holiday experience and will probably be our outstanding memory. With so many really positive aspects to the place that is the tragedy. Throughout our stay we were aware lots of people were having issues with hot water, indeed we had two days without any ourselves. As the hotel occupancy was around thirty percent it appeared most people were easily moved to another room. We were aware of one couple that were moved three times in pursuit of a hot shower. Maybe an issue when occupancy rates are higher.

Room Tip: Our seaside suite was fine, there are no tv's in any of the rooms.

Visited in late June early July, for a small hotel it seemed very empty, but this was not the case. The design of the hotel and grounds means that you have complete privacy even when occupancy is high. Being on a beautiful beach and it seems like you are by yourself is a bonus. Staff are attentive and cannot do enough. Meals are exceptionally presented, planned and cooked. Beach BBQ excellent, as was the Trysting Place restaurant - superb. Excellent range of water sports to try. An expensive holiday but worth it. We upgraded our room from Garden View to Beach Front, very expensive but worth it - the view and sunsets were amazing. Room upgraded due to balcony of room looking directly at a group of trees which blocked the afternoon/evening sun. Didn't sleep very well due to the noise of tree frogs - exceptionally loud!! But part of the habitat. Flight with BA going was less than 'cattle class' - unbelievably poor and downright uncomfortable, upgraded on return flight which was totally opposite, comfortable and decent food. This holiday cost us probably what we spend on two long haul holidays, glad we did it but wouldn't do it again - too many other places we want to see.

This is a beautiful well kept hotel with some excellent staff around the pool/beach areas and especially fantastic service in the formal dining restaurant Trysting Place, but we felt it was a shame that the rest of the restaurants and staff did not live up to the 5 star service sometimes portrayed in other ares of the hotel.

Rooms: we had standard, premium garden view room and even though I was concerned about it there was no need to be - the room was much bigger than first thought - and it was cleaned perfectly each day and our balcony even had some partial sea view! I would only upgrade for the advantage of having a separate toilet, shower and wash basin. This would save a a lot of time and be far more convenient when both needing to use the bathroom areas the same time.

Pool/beach: a special mention to Gilford who serves around the lazy river and spa pool he is such an asset to the hotel, reflecting 5 star service. The lazy river was absolutely beautiful - our preference was always here and the spa pool as it was so pretty and tranquil.

Restaurants: thank you to all the staff at Trysting Place who made our holiday. Food here was off Michelin Star standard worldwide and the staff were so professional, friendly and helpful. 5 star service at its best!
Unfortunately the other restaurants did not live up to the same standard - the buffet restaurant food really is low quality with tough meat that we just couldn't eat and we left our meal early.
The Malabar beach restaurant was great for the quality of food - not as good as the Trysting but still very nice; however service lets this place down. We ended up carrying our own drinks from the bar to this restaurant because we gave up asking all the time - we were beginning to feel like a nuisance having to ask so we found it easier to just get our own. Sadly though when staff did realise they had forgotten us, there was no apology made either. Other guests we spoke to around the resort complained of the same service and experience at Malabar.

Champagne bar: absolutely lovely touch to this hotel - a different champagne is selected each night to try between 7-8pm - we only made it a couple of times since we chose to stay at the pool/beach for as long as we could before showering for the evening so we wish they made the champagne hour later but then that's just our preference and maybe everyone else could make it at that time.

Gym: in a beautiful colonial building with an adequate amount of equipment for a hotel serving 100 rooms - it did get busy in the mornings though and had to wait for treadmill/cross trainer but not a huge problem.

Booking trip from the hotel: we booked the beach buggy Northern Trip and it was a blast.
The staff at Rendezvous really tried hard to help us with the booking however; they didn't seem to know much about any of the trips in terms of the details. I don't feel it was their fault as it seems sun tours were meant to do the bookings and know details but we found similarly they also didn't know.
It was the Rendezvous staff who made all the calls for us to sort our questions and we thank them for that!
We just wish the Rendezvous team could perhaps be given the full knowledge of all trips available since I feel if they knew what each trip involved they would do a better job than sun tours of providing guests with details/times and a service with a smile, unlike the sun tours reps they keep at the hotel.

Overall we had a lovely time and we would recommend this beautiful country/hotel to friends - but I personally would just recommend guests try and book into the Trysting Place whenever it is open to experience this hotel at its best, perhaps to avoid the buffet if you can and just accept the service not given at Malabar (take your own drinks) because the food and other serving staff are good here - make sure you take your insect repellent for the night here though as you are sat in the sand. We found lunch times were much better at Malabar Beach.

Thank you Rendezvous!
