This is a good place and reasonably priced boutique hotel. Breakfast is included, but it is not the best. The breakfast was made to order but the hotel is going through changes to upgrade the kitchen services. In the interim, we received dirty glasses, and a worm was found on one of the plates. Hopefully changes will be made shortly to address these issues.

The rooms are spacious and the suite can accommodate up to 6 people. Good place to stay during Carnival season.

Room Tip: wifi can be a little spotty at times

I could not ask for a better experience from the dedicated helpful staff, it is in close proximity to the city, the world's largest savannah and the zoo.The Chancellor Hotel is the perfect example of a boutique hotel despite the flaws

Room Tip: It is absolutely the best environment for a quiet vacation, ideal for nature seekers

My wife and I recently stayed at the Chancellor Hotel with a Habitat for Humanity house building team of 15 people in Trinidad. We all found this hotel to be a very relaxing place to stay after a day's project work. It has a nice pool with an overhead waterfall to swim in, with an adjacent bar where you can sit in the shade with your wine or local beer or fruit punch drink and enjoy the excellent Wi-Fi service throughout the hotel. The staff was very friendly and dedicated to making sure our needs for directions or pool towels or special food requests were met. The room themselves are spacious and clean with remote controlled AC that you'll likely use to turn down the AC since the units cool the room very well. The rooms also have high quality flat screen TVs with multiple US and local channels. Closet and shelf space is ample and the rooms have an iron, ironing board and hair dryer in the bathroom. The hotel is located right next to the Botanical Gardens and the Queens Park Savannah which make for scenic walking since the area is safe. There is also a large supermarket within 2 blocks for any shopping need you might have although not for souvenirs for which you will need to shop elsewhere. Overall, I would strongly recommend this hotel for couples, families, business groups (there is a good size meeting room which we used for orientation) and, of course, future Habitat for Humanity teams.

The Chancellor's staff was very helpful and friendly. They all tried their best to make our stay enjoyable. The suites were spacious enough to sleep four adults and two children. We had eleven people in our party, ranging in ages from two to sixty six; all felt comfortable in the bar and pool lounge area. It was perfect for causal meals, chatting, and socializing. The WiFi connection is good for the those who are constantly on their devices.
The location is within walking distance to the Botanical Gardens and the Savannah. If you get an early start, you can see the parrots leaving their roost in the Botanical Gardens. It's dry season now, so these areas lack their lushness, but it's a pleasant walk. We had a good size buffet stye breakfast every morning. This was surprising since the last time we came it was only a continental breakfast.
I'd like to commend Leslie, the cook, for making our California, New York, Trinidad family reunion dinner a lovely experience. Everyone enjoyed the Trinidadian style meal. If you are looking for something off the menu, such as plantains or salt fish, if available she'll hook you up.
This is a small local hotel. If you are looking for a Hilton or Hyatt experience then book the bigger hotel. If you want a causal, relaxing, local feel then this is the place.

Room Tip: Rooms near the poolside area can be a bit noisy. Rooms on the upper floor has high pitch ceilings which gives the room a spacious feeling.

This is a basic, clean and quiet hotel. The rooms all overlook a massive courtyard and there is a large gate that is closed at night that ensures you have the feeling of security. There is a large supermarket within walking distance and the Botanical gardens are a short walk away which is one a peaceful garden worth an evening stroll (or run). The staff were competent and responsive. There is little to do outside of the small poolside and restaurant so I spent most of the time in my room which is fairly large as is the bathroom/toilet area. It was good value for money and a mid range no frills choice that does not have the informal feel of the large "chain" hotels. So basic but good!
