“The Beach makes everything worth it.”
Reviewed 5 April 2003

This really is paradise. The Beach on this island makes this trip worth it. While on the pricier side for a budgeted traveler do it once. We stayed at the Allegro. A very adecquate hotel. Nothing fancy food won't knock your socks off and the service is a bit on the slow side. However all that melts away as soon as you see this beach. We literally spent entire days on this beach. And to be honost their is not to much going on on this island except for local entertainment. Even with that said the beach made it all worth while. My wife and go to one tropical local every year we have seen 12 so far and this still ranks as one of the most beautiful and our favorites. Trust me in 10 years it will be as popular and crowded as Aruba. So go now you won't regret it.

“Helpful Info for your trip to Provo”
Reviewed 18 February 2003

Just returned from a week long visit to Provo and loved it! Definitely gorgeous beaches - the most beautiful water and sand, and not too crowded. Stayed at The Sands at Grace Bay and was a little disappointed. It is a wonderful resort, but I think you need to be careful of what room category you choose. We were less than thrilled with our "studio category" room. It was fortunately more than a studio (has separate living and sleeping quarters), but the furnishings were awful. They were old, outdated, and falling apart (all of the drawer pulls and fan switches were falling off, the couch was faded and hideous, etc.). Would definitely pay the extra money also to get a room w/ a balcony. Front desk staff was also somewhat lukewarm. The shuttles are extremely expensive and seem to run at odd times. Now for the good stuff: Hemingway's is great! Good service, very good food. The bartenders were the best! Amenities were good too (free snorkel gear, free hobie cat & windsurfer use). Best food on the island: Boogaloo's Conch Shack-it is literally a shack on the side of the road (N end of the island), but it was fabulous. Boogaloo pulls the conch right out of the water and prepares it for you. Very inexpensive too!Second best (especially for the price): Cuba Bella - Cuban food; in walking distance of The Sands. We also ate at the newest restaurant-Simba (at Turks & Caicos Club). It was wonderful, but use this place as your one "special treat" as it is very pricey ($225 for a couple).Car rentals are pricey, but rent one for a day and go sightseeing. Chad at the car & scooter rental at Ports of Call will give you a map & mark special points of interest for you to see. Definitely worthwhile. Sail Provo catamaran trip (tied in with a trip to see the Iguanas and some snorkeling) was great. I'd be happy to answer questions if you're planning a trip there as I know from experience that there's not a lot of info on the net about Provo. Have fun!
