We spent a week at the Mafolie hotel. We had a junior suite, which was the perfect room to spend that much time. Our room was on the end at the street level. Morning rush hour - we would hear the traffic, but other than that noise was not an issue. Our balcony gave us a stunning view of the harbor- not to be missed. The pool was not very busy, so we often had it to ourselves, such a treat! When there were others there, it was great fun to meet new people. The pool bar is open noon to 4 at this time. Breakfast was included with our room, and what a breakfast! We are used to the continental breakfast at other (chain) hotels. This is a freshly prepared breakfast with eggs, or pancakes, or french toast or an omelet, bacon, potatoes, coffee/ tea and juice. The very best part of breakfast is Ella, the server. She is a delight! She welcomed us, made us feel like part of her family, She is always laughing, so very upbeat. Our room was clean, the king size bed comfortable. Wifi worked well, without any problems. We didn't try to watch TV. There is still some recovery happening at the Mafolie, but none of it impacted our stay. They are not serving lunch yet, but the refrigerator in the room was a good size and worked well, so we were able to make our own lunches once we picked up some staples, if we weren't out and about at lunch time. We would come back to the Mafolie again.

Room Tip: A room with outside space is particularly great for enjoying the climate and the view.

I had a wedding to attend in STT and stayed at the “Maf” (as I like to call the Mafolie Hotel above Charlotte Amalie).

With a commanding view of the entire harbor at your feet, the Maf; although a little dated, offers great treatment of its guests by all her staff....management and otherwise. The service makes up for the the few missing bits of glitz and glam which I GLADLY sacrifice for the caring and solitcituous staff’s attention.

The restaurant is the domain of the ebullient Ella who will get you whatever you need: whether a hug for your heart ...or a plate of delicious made-to-order breakfast. The Maf ain’t the Maf without Ella.

A home away from home, think of the Maf as a gracefully aging dowager who wears her quirks with pride.

I realize the USVI experienced a huge weather event in September 2017that crippled the island. However, if a hotel does not have amenities they advertise they do have, they should make guests aware of this or stay closed until they are able to offer them.

I love the hotel and the food is awesome as we the staff. I assumed for almost $400 per night I a 5 star hotel we would at least have cable and Wifi.

Room Tip: Close to pool

This hotel/ restaurant became a wonderful adventure.
We were given the name of this place by friends who had dinner there last year as a possible lunch place on our one day cruise stop.
We took a taxi up and around the mountains to this charming hotel with breathtaking views.
Sadly when we arrived, the staff told us the restaurant was not currently doing lunch since the hurricane.
However, the very hospitable staff showed us to the bar by the pool and invited us to stay, have a drink, take pictures, enjoy the pool area for as long as we liked.
The pool area was pristine, surrounded by plush seating arrangements of outdoor sofas, tables and chairs, chaise lounges and a cute bar, all on a verranda overlooking a cliff down to the port.
The hotel restaurant, though closed for lunch (but open for dinner) overlooks the ocean a floor above the verranda.
The hotel rooms appear to be very comfy bungalows, each on with great views.
The staff and the locals at the bar we're friendly and gracious. They made several alternate restaurant suggestions and after an hour there visiting, made taxi arrangement back into town.
Sorry that we missed dining there, but the visit was well worth it.
Kudos to the staff of this lovely hotel.

Just stayed overnight with my wife after 9 days charter sailing. The room was the last available, and least expensive since it had no view to speak of.

The staff had a few stars, including Rosie and Sayida(sp?) at the bars. The Mafolie house Dark and Stormy was the best drink we had all vacation.

Mafolie's pool has a nearly unbelievable view...really not to be misses. The pool lounge chairs were never overcrowded.

Our room was not "quiet" as a typical chain hotel might be. We could very clearly hear hallway conversation. This may not be an issue for rooms farther from the office. If you are honeymooning and would like privacy from other people's ears make sure to let the desk know when you are reserving.

Wife and I will be back.
