It had been at least five years since we last dined at The One & Only Ocean Clubs Courtyard Terrace. I wish it had been five years longer.
We were promptly seated and introduced to our three person waiter crew. That was the last time we had three service staff for the rest of the evening.
Food was, typically, slow to arrive, but not an excuse for it not being hot. Our party of 6 sent 3 of our entrees back to the kitchen so it could be reheated.
The entire rhythm of the meal was ruined. Beautiful candlelit tables, umbrellas, and half of us were left to await the re-serving of our food.
As our one waiter finally served our highly anticipated soufflés, he came to the table, set down the soufflés, the whipped cream and walked away. There was no presentation, no glitz, no fanfare.
Our disappointing meal ended, we were presented with our outrageously expensive guest check and excused.
There are many Good restaurants in Nassau and on Paradise Island. This restaurant needs better management!

We have frequented The One and Only Ocean Club numerous times over the years and have had fantastic dinners on the lawn and business meals in the Courtyard Terrace in the past. We have been away from the island for almost 10 years and it was great to be visiting for the Easter Long weekend.

As a special Easter Sunday dinner my husband and I decided to dine somewhere elegant for a fabulous trusted meal as we had previously experienced. Sadly our evening was nothing short of almost pathetic.

We arrived and were seated for our 7:30 p.m. reservation. We noticed that the restaurant was overrun with young children, men in shorts and flip flops, and groups of young teenage boys and girls traveling in packs up and down the courtyard. The waiters were inappropriately dressed for evening dinner service and looked more like busboys and as we quickly realized were terribly inexperienced.

Shortly after we were seated our waiter wanted to immediately take our food order and we asked if we could see a wine list first. We then ordered our wine and waited at least 30 minutes. We could see that the waiter had finally come back with our bottle of wine from a distance but then he left the bottle sitting on a service counter for another 20 minutes while he fluttered away taking other food orders instead of opening the wine and bringing it to our table. It was actually laughable.

When he finally returned with the wine, he began to tell us that we should have ordered our food when we were asked. We said we would not do that and explained that we did not want to begin our meal before the wine arrived.

When our food finally arrived it was nothing as described in the menu. My Moroccan spiced veal chop which was supposed to be on a bed of risotto came with no spice at all and sat on a bed of cubed chopped parsley boiled potatoes. The veal was tender, but rather tasteless with no resemblance of Moroccan spices at all. My husbands filet minion was also tasteless and also it didn't help that they did not have proper steak knives so neither of us could get through our meat very well.

When we told the waiter that my meal did not come with risotto he quickly ran to the kitchen and brought us a bowl of risotto and then said he would not charge us?? What?

The overall experience we had that night was that of a really overpriced mediocre restaurant. Interestingly the stifled arrogance when greeted at the door is still the same but the restaurant remains without any class. YIkes is all I can say.

At a price tag of $500 U.S. dinner for two including a $135 bottle of Amarone wine this is truly unacceptable. We are guessing that the association with the Atlantis clientele has affected the Ocean Club greatly and the extravagant special elegance of dining we were hoping to have is gone. I truly hope that the Ocean Club will consider this review seriously and think about how to be the truly exceptional place it once was. I certainly will not be recommending this restaurant for dinner and will be adding this disappointment experience along with Sapodilla the previous night. Wow Nassau/Paradise Island Bahamas is not doing very well in the fine dining category so far.
