We stayed here during the soft opening in early July. I have a hyatt credit card, which comes with certain privileges. I have also stayed approx 30-40 nights in a Hyatt brand hotel from 2016-2017. The front desk gave us the WORST room, facing the parking lot. Why? Keep in mind, there was at least 80% rooms available. The night manager apologized profusely, but offered no comps. The food in the hotel is garbage. If you like panda express you would love the dining at this hotel.

Room Tip: Look for the manager. Ignore the front desk.

Dear Brendan D:

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort.

We apologize your experience was not to our usual standard. In July, our room inventory was limited and as the months have gone on we have added several hundred additional rooms. In addition, we have expanded our menu options and added restaurants to provide our guests with a variety of options.

At your earliest convenience, please send your contact information and the details of your experience to bahamar.grand@hyatt.com so we may discuss your situation at length and alleviate any outstanding issues.

We look forward to speaking with you.

Best regards.

This hotel was wonderful. The rooms are beautiful and the grounds were great. The only problem is that it is not fully open so the food options are limited. It will be better once it fully opens. The other issue that should be considered is that it is very expensive.

We returned yesterday from the Baha Mar. I will try not to make this review long but I want to give you some prices and details. First I would like to thank all my TA peeps for all the valuable info which made our trip so great. You were spot on! Arrival at the airport went very fast and smooth. Taxi from Airport to resort was $22 plus tip. I will say first and foremost this is a NONCASH resort. Everything you purchase will be charged to your room. You can also use a debit card. I suggest you ask for a receipt for everything you purchase. Restaurants will not give you one unless you ask. I say this as we had two discrepancies on our bill which were removed without problem. Checkin was fast. Staff were amazing. They went that extra step to make you happy. My special thanks to Nitika who checked us in and accommodated all our requests. The rooms are new therefore were clean and beautiful. House staff came every day and left two complimentary bottles of water and coffee as well as tea. Nice touch as coffee in restaurants is $5 a cup. There is also a Starbucks on site (starbucks does accept cash).
Pools: there are 6. Each had its own beautiful environment. And of course there is a great beach. Casino is big and Vegas style.
Restaurants: Pricey, American B'fast (eggs/bacon/toast/coffee) for two approx.$59.00 at Palms. Dinner at Swimming Pig, Burger and Mushroom Burger with Fries and one Beer approx $59. Wine was approx $16 a glass. Beer $8.50 and up.The golf course is not to be missed. We don't golf but did go see it and where blown away by the beautiful grounds. We had b'fast at the cafe and it was the best of our stay. Pancakes with fruit and cream. $49 Delicious!!! The outside setting is incredible. There is a complimentary shuttle that will take you from the resort to the golf course. It will also take you to the Melia next door if you'd like to go to the Black Angus Steakhouse which was very good!! Although pricey' all the restaurants were very good. I only wish there were a Italian restaurant or a Pizza place for a simple meal. A meal plan would also be a good idea. We did go off the property one evening to Capriccio's. Taxi was $13 one way. We went downtown $1.25 for the Jitney each way. The property is amazing. We stayed seven days and didn't see all of it. Some areas are just breathtaking and the interaction with the sea life is so fun. You can pet the sharks/sting reys at 1:30 and 3:30 feeding time. Awesome. There is so much to say and not enough space but if you are thinking about a stay, don't hesitate, you wont be disappointed.
I would like to say a personal thank you to Erika. Erika you accommodated our every request and made us feel like family. You always had a smile no matter what we requested. Thank you for your hospitality. You are an asset to the Hyatt Organization. I hope we can return soon!!

Room Tip: ocean view

The casino allows smoking and men smoking strong cigars are everywhere, not just in the cigar bar. The smell was so disgusting that we had to leave. I couldn't breathe. Not sure how they can classify this as a non-smoking hotel. Maybe people don't smoke in their hotel rooms, but they smoke throughout the entire ground floor of the hotel and that smell permeates the air.

Dear Jean293:

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort.

We apologize for the smoke smell you experienced off the casino floor. We have designated all areas of the resort as non-smoking except in and around the casino floor. Our air circulation systems and open-air concept design generally does an efficient job removing the smoke smell however we apologize this was not the case during your stay. Your feedback has been shared with our management team.

We appreciate your feedback and hope the rest your experience at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar was nothing short of grand. It was a pleasure having you stay with us.

Best regards.

We stayed here for an anniversary celebration for a short 4 nights. The service is incredible - everywhere, in the club, at the pool, the front desk, in the restaurants. The amenities are first class and the food reasonable. Of the 1800 rooms, only about 1/3 or less are occupied at any point in time since construction is still ongoing. The construction isn't visible in the east tower but we heard it each day - starting at 7 a.m. Fortunately we are early risers but it did take away from the enjoyment of the room (and we upgraded to a suite) - hammering and sawing aren't particularly relaxing noises to hear.

They have a sailboat on the beach but apparently it nor any of the kayaks were available for use. The lifeguard couldn't understand our asking about them.

The Hyatt has purchased the properties on either side of the initial towers and they are building a big water park in the coming years. Certainly will be competing with the other main property there. We were told this was the nicest property on on the island and the Atlantis was the biggest with the most activities.

Big casino, never crowded. We only left the hotel once to go to the Fish Fry area - worth doing!

This was the perfect spot for our just two getaway but they need to have better hours for construction or move guests elsewhere when they are hammering.

Oh, and they include 15% in the drinks/bar menus - we didn't know and tipped on top of that - and that was never mentioned (and at the beach bar they recited the menu our first day - didn't show it and it is printed there and on the receipts but we didn't notice on the receipt.)

Room Tip: Get a suite if you can - worth it!
