Upon entering we found the resort to be an average dated resort. Not nearly as nice as a Wydham resorts we have visited in the past. Although it was clean with easy access to the pool and restaurant. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, but mostly fried. Breakfast was ok. The car rental we did from the resort was reasonable price, but it has seen better days. The area around Freeport shows a depressed economy with many properties run down and abandoned. I would guess about 60 percent uninhabitable. The beaches are clean with few people and no development around to speak of. Being able to drive around the island allowed us to see the true side of an island with potential but not able to find its direction. Locals blame the government for its condition, and lack of development. Not much to do if your a active person. Minimal shopping at the market with average pricing for food, products, and drinks.

I will be clear: this review is based on Lodging in Freeport.

We chose this location because we are time share owners in another location and due to a hurricane we needed to find another spot or we would lose the time. Freeport is still recovering from their last hurricane-it may take a long time for them to be in full recovery-

We checked in on Saturday: line of people for check in and a lot of activity. We were greeted by a lovely staff and live music-but it did not hide the somewhat run down appearance of ORYC. But that didn't really bother us. Once we got through check in-about 20 minutes we were told our room was not ready , go to the Welcome center get our packet and then come back and get our room key. Somewhat disappointing but expected. Mind you were traveling 12 hours.

Welcome packet was getting bullied into being told when we were going to the dreaded time share presentation-UGH-really? Nothing more annoying but we were handed a decent Bahama Mama and just went with it and according to the weather...which called for rain we may as well hear what they were selling and get over it.

Got our room: 1 bedroom-Queen size bed-clean, neat and decent but one nightstand, no dresser for putting away clothes, tiny bathroom-pretty small -shower/tub combo in the bedroom-odd and weird. First night could literally hear the girl above us vomiting in the bathroom. THIN WALLS-low ceilings my husband had to duck through the hallway to avoid light fixtures. Really nice kitchen, nice balcony-and pleasant family room/tv room.

Lots of the guests were yacht/boat owners very casual-

2 pools but they were COLD and not heated, or at least they did not have the heat on when we were there.

Gym is decent, well maintained and has nice equipment-treadmills, bicycles

Surrounded by a lovely dock the property is large with plenty of nice outdoor furniture, and lounge chairs and a view thatched umbrellas. The common areas are very clean and well maintained. The common bathrooms are very nice and very clean. We felt pretty secure there too.

Ocean Blue restaurant is fine we had 5 breakfasts, and one dinner there. All very good with good service. Very causal.

We actually had a decent time share presentation but it is because we had charming ladies Xavier, Kalia and Vida. They were great really fun and well we bought what they sold. The 90 minute presentation was from 9-2 pm....just saying. We were given 2) 40 minute massages-note these are not on the premises-they drive you elsewhere for this but another chance for another adventure

We ended up changing room which made the stay more comfortable. The 2 bedroom unit was really nice for time share standards. Some rough spots, missing ceiling tiles, a few holes in the wall but a very comfortable king size bed, nice kitchen etc. The patio lounge chairs needed some help and we were next to the office where the damaged window treatments could be seen from our unit. Once again thin walls-I could hear the guy above me snoring LOUDLY from Monday-Saturday. UGH. But after a full day-having the extra space, a comfortable bed-this was a nice room to come back to. Flat screen TV's, hair dryers-

The location is excellent: pretty central. We rented a car and knew this would be our base. We rarely spend that much time in our rooms while on vacation-for a spot to sleep and relax after a full day of activities this is a great spot.

Staff: in all of my travels, I have never been around such lovely, friendly people. Everyone was easy to chat with and we felt it was sincere. This was the case for the entire island, not just ORYC-every single time we walked into a business, the staff was so welcoming-it was very special and made the stay that much more enjoyable. They offer lots of activities and evening events-we participated in the bbq, sadly it rained that night but they made do: took us all inside and we all sat together and chatted-it was very pleasant. no stress, no hysterical staff-their activities director was cool as a cucumber even when we lost power-it came back on eventually-

While we were researching properties for this trip, where to stay I would say the reviews are pretty spot on: this is casual, but offers comfort and pleasant lodging with a non touristy vibe. A very mellow place-and very few kids

While exploring the island we felt this was the best option the island offers: there are some more luxury spots but they are FAR, one side of the island- or all inclusive. You are very central to just about everything at ORYC-having your own car is good-

The entire time we were there workers were maintaining the property: painting, rebuilding, cleaning-clearly they are still in recovery from their last big storm-my guess is this will continue and will be ongoing-

We enjoyed our stay-they need to improve the overall appearance and they will-based on servie, location, overall appearance this is the best option for anyone not looking for an all inclusive time share in Freeport.

Room Tip: first floor is convenient, bring ear plugs-walls are thin

I was given false information during a timeshare presentation. The sales person lied about the program I purchased. Very disappointed in the misrepresentation. I deserve a refund based on the false information given. Upon further investigation, I am not the only person taken advantage of.

Activities nearly every day except Saturday and Sunday(changeover days).
My only gripe would be charges. $103 plus VAT utility and the shuttle is $15 per person per single trip!!!. Considering nowhere is very far, a $60 trip to the grocery store is over the top.Believe it or not a taxi is cheaper. Can't be right.Hence the low score

Location is very good, in that it's an easy drive to bars and restaurants and beaches in either direction. The marina setting is nice. Grounds and pool are well maintained.

The overall resort is terribly outdated, tired, and in need of maintenance.

Staff is courteous enough.

Ate at the onsite restaurant once. Conch fritters were good. The rest was quite awful.

Hot water was available in the shower most days.

No housekeeping provided.

The time share hustle is certainly in play here, but they are pretty easy to blow off.

If you are the type of traveler that likes to spend time at your resort, then this is not the place for you. If you just want a reasonably comfortable base of operations and plan to venture out each day and night, then this place will work just fine.
