Another amazing stay at Valerie's cottage!!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 1 Sept 2019
This was my second time staying at Valerie's cottage rental. There where 4 of us and we love it. Valerie is a great and if you need anything you just have to ask. She lives in one of the cottages on the property. The location is great and the area is quiet. She has a nice dock area that we saw turtles, a heron bird, and a couple small sharks. It was amazing. The cottage is clean and has everything you'll need for your stay. The market in Georgetown is the place to get your supplies. The Tropic of Cancer beach is just down the road from the cottage. Thanks again Valerie for a great stay.

Room Tip: All cottages are great.

We stayed in cottage #4 from May 10-15th. The cottage was clean, cozy and homey. This is a relaxing laid back place to stay. Valerie the host is honest, kind and helpful. The cottages have everything you need for a proper vacation. We brought our own food to save money and loved having the kitchen and full size fridge. The pool is very nice and we loved having use of the kayaks although the weather didn't cooperate for us using them more- we still got to spend a wonderful day on Moriah Cay...we felt like Robinson Crusoe. This is the perfect base to explore -especially the southern end of exuma and little exuma. Forbes Hill Beach, Tropic of cancer etc are a short scenic drive away. We would love to come back. This is a enjoyable, peaceful retreat. One parting hint don't forget your deep woods off- we visited after flooding rains and the mosquitos were out for blood. We packed Avon skin so soft...but I think it just made the mosquitos think we smelled more appealing. The cottages do come with mosquito coils for your porch and spray.

If you are looking for a resort experience, move on. If you are looking for peace and quiet and access to some of the most beautiful sand flats, then this is your place. It sits high on a hill, a short walk to the dock. From there you can take the kayaks wherever your heart desires and your arms can paddle. You will see few people all week if you want. Or, take your rental car and explore the many beaches on the island. Grab a drink or food at the local establishments. And, if you need to DOOOO something else, go adventure to the Chat and Chill, or go to the Grotto and swim with the pigs and snorkel, or get a fishing guide for the day etc... This is the kind of place where you can decide to hide, or engage. Valerie is an excellent host. She keeps a freshwater pool on site that is a joy after a day in the sand and sun, or just to hang for the day. Pick up groceries in Georgetown and cook on site (be prepared for a lot less choices, but you won't starve! Remember, it's an island and most has to be shipped in!). The cabins are clean and stocked as expected, but not fancy. This place is a quiet place where you can be an adult and entertain yourself with a good book, the kayaks, fishing, local food etc... We have been here twice and plan to return. Valerie has been here since the 60's and is well respected and well connected. Just ask! She is a great resource to navigating whatever you want on the island. You can also find her email by doing some research. She will answer your questions.

Room tip: Cabins with kitchens. All are about the same.

Valerie does a fantastic job: always helpful, keeps a beautiful garden with access to the sea. This is the place to stay if you want to slow down and enjoy the nature and its scenery. Cool down in the pool in the afternoon or stroll down to the waterfront to enjoy sunset.

We(2 couples) stayed at Exuma Vacation cottages for 8 nights. I can't say enough great things about the owner Valerie. From start to finish she was great to book and was a book of knowledge. Not only did we enjoy Valeries cottage and property, but we chose to spend time with her, hearing about all the history around and about her adventures living in Exuma. I may add that she does not impose on you unless you invite her to. She went over and beyond during our stay.
The cottages are quant, simple and adorable and in my favorite area of Exuma. The views are amazing as you get the sunrise and sunset. We spent a lot of time using the kayaks playing around at the Cut and Moriah Cay. We also did some snorkeling around the mangroves, and in the evening the pool was a great retreat.
I can't say enough about Valerie and the Cottages. Very private and relaxing. I highly recommend.

Valerie is a gem...she's a sweet, extremely helpful hostess. She lives on the property and is always around and ready to help. She's a wealth of information and glad to assist in any way. The cottages are not directly on a beach, but it's a very short walk to a great dock and a beautiful harbor to do some kayaking. There are many beautiful beaches nearby either by car or kayak. She has a beautiful view as well. The pool is quite nice to cool off in. There are several bars and restaurants a short drive away, but you will need a rental car. The cottages are well equipped for cooking too. The cottages have everything you might need and are very clean. This isn't a fancy resort type place but if you really want to spend your vacation in a relaxing, clean, beautiful spot, this is the place. I can't say enough about how great Valerie is and how great the cottages are. It was an amazing vacation. I would stay here again, and I would recommend to others too.
