After reading the reviews of this place and fancying a curry, plus coming from the Midlands we called on Friday night to attempt to book a table for Saturday. Raj was lovely, "Can you ring back in 10 minutes, and we will try to accommodate your party.' (4 adults and 3 children). Ringing back, Raj could not have been more helpful.
Although a table at our requested time wasn't available, we could pre order and the food would be pretty much ready when we sat down. Raj could not have been more accommodating. A proper welcome when we arrived, the table was ready, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. All the staff were wonderful. Very friendly, and the food....well, certainly not your average Indian menu. We started with the traditional popadoms with very different but delicious tasting Yoghurt and Mango dips. We had starters of mixed platters. Meat and Vegetable. Loads of meat and plenty of veg and very tasty, perfect to share amongst the 7 of us.
A surprise taster between courses, and Raj checking all was well without us feeling pressured.
Main courses were not the vivid bright colours with an edging of oil, that we've come to expect with currys. The meals were more subtle and delicately flavoured along with the lovely accompaniments of rice and breads. We were too full for pudding.
We had such a lovely experience at The Indiana, a really personal service, nothing seemed too much bother, and we would definitely recommend the place to friends coming to stay in the area. Raj seems a really interesting man, and I'd love to have stayed longer to chat and find out more about why he settled in Fairbourne. Next time.... and without children!
Don't expect typical Brummy curry service, but be prepared to relax, enjoy and stay a while in a very friendly and comfortable restaurant.
