We visited here while staying in fairbourne, tempted by the great reviews on here - but not really believing such a little out-of-the-way place could really be so great. We were a group of 6 who have eaten a lot of Indian food in a lot of places, but we were all blown away by the food and very impressed with the whole experience. Everything I tasted was delicious - flavoursome, varied, fresh and tender. Definitely go here if you are nearby.

Service was also brilliant. Friendly and helpful, with lovely complimentary spinach pakora and mango lassie.

Called in without booking and the owner was very accommodating offering us a table despite been fully booked.
The decor was pleasant and the service was very good.
For starter we had the mixed 'non veg platter' and this was good.
For the mains we had chicken Karahi and Chicken Makhini. The Makhini had flavour but was much milder than I'm used to. My wife's Karahi was a bit watery and lacked flavour and the accompanying chapattis' tasted 'shop bought', and were a bit 'crispy'.
I assume owner is catering more for local tastes, which isn't ours.

After reading the reviews of this place and fancying a curry, plus coming from the Midlands we called on Friday night to attempt to book a table for Saturday. Raj was lovely, "Can you ring back in 10 minutes, and we will try to accommodate your party.' (4 adults and 3 children). Ringing back, Raj could not have been more helpful.
Although a table at our requested time wasn't available, we could pre order and the food would be pretty much ready when we sat down. Raj could not have been more accommodating. A proper welcome when we arrived, the table was ready, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. All the staff were wonderful. Very friendly, and the food....well, certainly not your average Indian menu. We started with the traditional popadoms with very different but delicious tasting Yoghurt and Mango dips. We had starters of mixed platters. Meat and Vegetable. Loads of meat and plenty of veg and very tasty, perfect to share amongst the 7 of us.

A surprise taster between courses, and Raj checking all was well without us feeling pressured.

Main courses were not the vivid bright colours with an edging of oil, that we've come to expect with currys. The meals were more subtle and delicately flavoured along with the lovely accompaniments of rice and breads. We were too full for pudding.

We had such a lovely experience at The Indiana, a really personal service, nothing seemed too much bother, and we would definitely recommend the place to friends coming to stay in the area. Raj seems a really interesting man, and I'd love to have stayed longer to chat and find out more about why he settled in Fairbourne. Next time.... and without children!

Don't expect typical Brummy curry service, but be prepared to relax, enjoy and stay a while in a very friendly and comfortable restaurant.

Another visit whilst visiting Fairbourne. 3 of us enjoyed authentic Indian Cuisine washed down with Cobra. The spicy flavour fish and butter chicken were divine. My other party members enjoyed amongst other dishes the mushrooms and chicken makni.
The restaurant was full with unbooked diners turned away so if you are planning a visit then book ahead.

On a family holiday to Wales, we ventured over to Indiana after a day in Barmouth after reading their great reviews on tripadvisor. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with some of the tastiest Indian food we've ever tried. With three of us being vegans we had plenty of choice, with two going for the chana masala and one going for the banarsi gobi aloo (a slightly sweeter option). Such incredible flavours! The complimentary potato chapattis and spinach pakoras went down a treat too. But what really wowed us was the story of the place itself - don't forget to ask Raj. His general life philosophy really impressed us too and we left as the final diners of the night, bellies full of amazing home-cooked food and with smiles on our faces. I'm sure we'll be back sometime, thanks Raj and Noorie!
