“Amble Holiday”
Reviewed 22 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Cosy and comfortable accommodation. Lovely view of the marina. Good selection of cafes, restaurants and shops only yards from the apartment.

Beautiful beach and riverside walks towards from Amble to Warkworth and Low Hauxley.

All in all a lovely relaxing break which we would like to repeat in the near future.

Thank you Jean.

“This photo is not the property, the property sits behind this and is a back stret slum”

The property is located next to a piece of waste ground used as a car park, on finding it you enter a damp smelly lobby, The entire place is littered with owners possessions on every surface, the downstairs bed is very uncomfortable, the water heating system does not work, to get hot water you have to run it very slowly. The entire property need a complete renovation to make it habitable, but the appalling location, cannot be changed. We left after 3 days, we could stand the dirt and discomfort no longer. There is even a cat tower getting in your way. We have photographic proof of all this and much more as there is not enough space to document.

Mrs McDonald's views of our home are very negative and may have been distorted by her personal situation at the time - she and her husband disturbed our downstairs neighbour with loud rows, the first on the very night they arrived in Amble.
We cleaned the house thoroughly before the McDonalds came so to say it was dirty and uncomfortable is libellous. My sister was in the hospitality trade and keeps to the highest professional standards.
We moved in six years ago, everything was bought new and it's a holiday home so hardly needs a complete renovation.
The property is located next to a piece of tarmacked ground used as a car park. It is not waste ground. The house is Victorian but hardly a slum. It's right in the centre of Amble.
There IS a damp patch in the downstairs hall. As we don't expect our guests to be spending their holidays there, we've been waiting till our current run of bookings comes to a halt before we have it treated. (Nor do we expect them to squash themselves into the corner between the radiator and the mirror, which is the only way the cat tower could get in anyone's way.)
The ornaments on the surfaces are all in the pictures on the website, so why choose a holiday house that doesn't suit your taste? As for the lead picture on the website, it's obviously taken from our house, which is clearly stated to be a maisonette flat.
Two sets of guests immediately after the McDonalds' visit have left lovely reviews:
1) 'Although we've been out and about every day it's been so nice to come back to a welcoming home with wonderful views. I would say it is one of the most relaxing holidays we have been on.'
(9th - 13th April)
2) 'We have had a wonderful and relaxing Easter break at Amble... Facilities at the flat were up to a high standard and comfortable and thank you for the welcome pack.'
(13th - 19th April)

“Good place to base your holiday”
Reviewed 2 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Amble is a very compact and pleasant little town. The flat is very convenient for the main drag of shops which are varied and interesting. The eating place are very good from the excellent value Tuesday steak night at Zuccis, the great breakfasts from Jaspers to the haggis at the chippy!
The accommodation is fine but exceptionally difficult to find as it is tucked away....even with the recruited help of four neighbours it took looking at bins to find it. More precise details required. The lounge is very comfortable with recliners, a useful kitchen and an excellent shower. Comfy beds are always a problem in holiday lets and this place was no exception. Top floor was fine but lower level bed mattress was well past its sell by date and needs urgent replacement. Take care not to cook with the excellent central heating.
Northumbria never fails to impress but steer clear of Alnwick, Seahouses and Bamburgh during school holidays - no parking and loads of Potterites in Alnwick. Best value visit Ashington Mining Museum £3.50 parking the only charge and an excellent cafe as well.

The mattresses were both bought in 2011 and as it's a holiday house have not been used very much. Perhaps it wasn't to your taste.
Apologies for the lack of directions. I thought they were in the handbook and will now add them.

“What a Tardis”
Reviewed 16 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Once we had found our way in (this could have been our own silly fault) the rooms openend out larger than we had expected.A small welcome pack awaited us which was an unexpected pleasure as we were starving after a long drive.large living/dining room led into a well provisioned kitchen.A bedroom on the same floor as well as a huge bathroom..Another flight of stairs led to a huge bedroom with tremendous views over the marina.Warm and welcoming this made our short stay in Amble one not to forget.

“Great base for a holiday by the seaside”

On arrival the exterior is disappointing. However, the interior is very nicely presented, clean and very comfortable. The owners have taken a lot of time to make sure your stay is enjoyable. A very tasty welcome pack with a nice bottle of wine awaited us. There are lots of great places around Amble to visit and after an exhausting day we were happy to relax for the evening in this comfortable accommodation. We have relatives in the area and we were more than happy to entertain them there x
