My family loves Long Island. It’s grown a bit in the eight years since our last visit. But still a laid back place with friendly people and incredible remote beaches.

We wanted to give a shout out to
Fiona’s Sweet Treats and Catering.

Fiona is a nice lady and an excellent cook. We stayed at an AirBNB in the Stella Maris area. Fiona brought meals to our house three times. Each meal was better than the last. Fresh fried fish, peas and rice, Mac and cheese were all so good. Our best meal on the island was her curried fish and rice, conch fritters, coleslaw and steamed vegetables. Please do not come here and tell everybody how great it is! I want to keep coming back and have it stay just as it is...so perfect. Just kidding, go visit and enjoy...We have been three times in two years, and plan to keep coming back.

Long Island is a special place with beautiful, uncrowded beaches and the loveliest local culture I've ever experienced. The local music scene is really fun and the guides and restaurateurs all were so friendly and solicitous. My favorite person there is a guide, Delbert Smith, who took us diving and was awesome. Be sure to take lots of cash to the island since a lot of businesses don't take credit cards and there are only two ATMs for the whole 80-mile-long island. When they run out of cash, you're stuck. Also, in future trips I'll bring good coffee. It's hard to find and after two weeks, I was jonesing for a good cup. Those shortcomings are easy to overcome for the experience of the islands, though.
