FANTASTIC new road leading up to Columbus Monument! Smooth and very wide. New concrete stairway to monument finished with Teak or Cypress hand railings and posts. 1st class job. My wife and I traveled here by rental car from Cape Santa Maria Resort where we were staying. You could have easily ridden bikes to the monument parking area.

Recent work has been done on creating concrete stairs with teak banisters to get to the top. The views were astounding and the monument is interesting to see.

The new road up to the monument is glorious. They did such a good job with it. There are lots of great views from the top. They are all different based on which direction you're facing. I had read that there were coves down below where you could snorkel, but when we were there the water in every direction was way too rough for swimming or snorkeling. I'd love to find out where we can do this next time though. There were some great photo ops here. Just be careful if you have kids with you because you wouldn't want them getting close to the edges.

Nice hike up to monument! It's on the cliff side of island where you can look down into the water swirling around the cliffs...beautiful views!

They say that Christopher Columbus launched the European conquest of the hemisphere in this very spot. This historic location offers amazing views of some of the most beautiful water you will ever see as well as some pretty great snorkeling in the lagoon below. Don’t be surprised if a barracuda cruises by to see who’s invading his territory. It’s probably best to swim when the tide is coming in, so check the tide charts.
