We stayed in Cape Santa Maria a year ago, so hopefully things have improved.
The location is beautiful. The cottages are quite small and stuffy. The newer duplexes are modern with all amenities and worth the upgrade, as there is a kitchen as well.
The staff do not seem very interested in the guests at all. The excursions are expensive and often booked in advance, so if you haven’t booked you are stuck or have to search elsewhere ( which we did).
The hotel is very isolated, so having a car for a few days is useful.
Our biggest issue was the terrible food poisoning we got. We heard from other guests who had similar issues.
When I wrote to the hotel manager about the food poisoning and other guests having similar issues, we were told they had “checked the kitchen and water supplies “ and there were “ no issues “, despite multiple guests being very sick.

This hotel tries to be very high end and exclusive but doesn’t pull it off, mainly because of lack of ambience and interest of the managers/ owners the team. When the food poisoning happened we were blamed, with no apologies, even though multiple guests had been ill. There are much better to go.

Our groups had a great lunch and cocktails and the setting does not get any better. The food is as view of the beautiful blue waters.

We stay at Stella Maris resort. We ate lunch at Cape Santa Maria and the staff was RUDE! Will never go back there!!! We will dine at Stella Maris or some other place but not there!
