We had a family afternoon at Brean Down in Somerset which is easily accessible from Weston Super Mare where we had lunch. Large car park which is FREE for members of the National Trust and a fantastic walk up on the Downs which was quite steep ! We walked right to the end of the path to see the Victorian fort with an old gunpowder store about 1.5 miles to the fort. Fantastic views across the Bristol Channel walking out and then views of Weston Super Mare on the way back. Highly recommended !!

Bit of a trek up the hill but well worth a visit. My son loved the world war two buildings at the end of the coast. Fascinating history.
