We spent a very relaxing 10 nights at Krabi Thai Village resort .. The rooms are very spacious, clean & comfortable. We found that we had to run the air con every night so as not to get woken by the early morning staff - the sounds of staff preparing for the day tend to echo and the rooms aren't very sound proof (the air con tends to block out all the noise)
Buffet breakfast every morning with so so much to choose from (the omlettes are delicious) .. The staff are very friendly (although a little hard to communicate at times as many of the staff only understand very limited english). Thoroughly enjoyed our massage at the spa.The pool is a great place to relax, cool off & unwind after a hard day of shopping / sight seeing. We tended to eat out most nights as the dinners at the resort were not ïmpressive"
Overall ... we enjoyed our time here & would definately consider returning.
Was not happy that we had to purchase internet access (most resorts offer free internet access)
Situated a short walk into town / to the beach .. and alot of lovely restaurants to choose from along the way & a good way to walk off the buffet breakfast (up & down the hill) ... Directly across the road is the Carnivore steak Restaurant - a must try if you like the perfect steak!

Krabi Thai Village is definitely not a 4-star resort. The whole place is in need of a serious renovation. We stayed in an executive room on the 2nd floor and had to contend with concrete steps every time we needed to get out! What bothered me most was the staff - they were everywhere but seemed to stand around laughing amongst themselves!! There was only one poor guy working at the pools serving food/drinks. Breakfast was OK, lunch was fine. We had the buffet dinner on one evening and left after 30 minutes - so so bad!! The pool area is tacky, fake grass everywhere that gets extremely hot and sun lounges with black vinyl that burns! They charge a ridiculous amount of money for interner access - and it wasn't even available in the room!! We had to either go to our balcony or go to the public areas of the resort to use it. Had a facial in the spa - the lady doing it decided to take a phone call on her cell with one hand and work on my face with the other. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from Ao Nang town but I found the walk to the town a tad scary....I definitely would not go alone using the shortcut. The hotel is located near a few really good restaurants - Carnivore and Hilltop are especially memorable.

I just came back from a 3 day stay at the Krabi Thai Village Resort.... I thought the value for money was amazing. The room was huge and so clean (and im really picky about cleanliness), the staff were so friendly to us and we were only a short walk from the beach.

We asked the hotel for a cooking lesson and they even provided us with a private Thai cooking lesson with the chef! It was amazing! I now know how to make a 3 course Thai meal.

Everyone just made us feel so welcome.

The spa at the hotel is quite expensive, so if you're looking for a good alternative, opposite the road there's a massage/beauty parlour called Massage Corner, which is a great spa day out for women looking for good value.

Overall a great stay in a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: If you ask for a room with a great view while checking in, they give you one. That's what we did.

Rooms are comfortable and clean, well located - about ten minutes from the beach so not in the hustle and bustle. Breakfast could be better

We stayed here in late March 2012, the hotel is located about 4 or 5 minutes walk from the beach and shops but is well served by Tuk-Tuks. The hotel breakfast is very good, ranging from fry-ups to healthy options and even spicy Thai food !!

The bedrooms are overlooking the pool but very discretely tucked behind palm trees and plants so its not rowdy. Our rooms were very nice and well cleaned, and in fact our cleaner was the only smiling staff member we saw all week. Many of the staff spent their time lounging around draped over chairs and tables, completely ignoring the guests...amazing. I suppose they are not paid a huge amount and it was the end of the season.

Nobody ate their evening meal their and not many people were around the 3 or 4 very good swimming pools. We were charged £16 for a single club sandwich and Cold drink from the poolside bar, after being stung (serves us right, I know) the next few days we walked the 200 yards to the street vendors and purchased freshly cooked chicken kebabs and Banana pancakes for £3 and took them back to the hotel.

Nightlife isn't too bad, bars and pubs open till the early hours but it is not a wild raving place.
Although we tried many of the restaurants (the food is generally very good) we found that the welcome we got in Sally O'malleys Irish bar was so nice that we ate out and then ended up their for a couple of beers.

If you are thinking of visiting the Islands, then do it from Krabi. We took a longboat over to the nearest Island of Poda and for £6 each return we found that it was fabulous value for a marvellous day at the beach. Tickets available from the municipal booths on the beach. Fresh food vendors on the Island will cook you a beautiful healthy lunch for a couple of quid and you can get a massage or go snorkelling.

We also too the speedboat trip to Phi-Phi for about £25 each, this included brief stops to Monkey island (pointless) Viking cave (pointless) but Maya beach (where the film The Beach was made) and Phi-Phi (too short a time) this included snorkelling and lunch. All very nice but a bit on-and-off-the-boat every half hour. Maya beach was probably quite beautiful but we couldnt see it due to the Russian hordes.

We stayed in Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket, but for us Krabi was the more unspoilt and authentic Thailand.
