The hotel was the former residence of the Governor of Ensenada so we were told by the staff. In January it was converted into a hotel right on the ocean (no beach front or access). There are 7 rooms, we got a second floor with a balcony which was wonderful, downside was there are no drawers in bed or bath room to put your things and a very small closet. Other downside is very low lighting in the bathroom, most women will struggle to apply makeup. Also on this side of the property there is a restaurant right next door with a dog that began barking at 1:30 am, first night for 3 hours and kept us awake. In the morning I told several staff members and they said they would address it. Unfortunately on night two the dog began again at 1:30, at 2:15 I called the guard and complained, he said he would check into it but it continued for another 45 minutes. Upon check out I again let them know so they could address the problem. The hotel is decorated beautifully and has a spa area, prices begin at $120 for a massage which is high for the area. The staff are very friendly and hospitable.
Note - there is not a restaurant nor bar, it is more of a bed & breakfast situation, they will make you breakfast to order, coffee, tea & orange juice available in the dining area. They do have a small wine list and there is someone to order a glass or bottle from. Again think bed & breakfast. The property is amazing but it is one of the most expensive in the area. Glad we stayed once but we could rent a house on the ocean for these prices.
