My sister n law found this Mario on this site believing all the the good reviews. There were 4 of us and he charged us $60 each for a tour and a snorkelin trip. Turns out he wasted our whole day taking us to a bay where his friends oun a business. We were way overcharges for a few beers and a margarita, then he takes us to his house to look at his art work and then he gives us tamales and punch that supposedly his wife cooked.
When we were finished we thanked her and we were discussing how much to tip her , when Mario asked us if we wanted to pay for the food now or later. We were somewhat shocked because he never mentioned a fee. He charged us $64.00 for the snacks.
Then he took us to shopping area where he was the one charging( overcharged)
Don't be fooled by the positive posts, they are very suspicious

We went on the seven bay tour and really enjoyed seeing the different bays that make up Huatulco, as well as very pleasant San Agustin. Mario is a local and knows a little bit about everything and goes out of his way to please. My partner forgot to pack a swimsuit, Mario said no problem and took us to the hotel to fetch it, the whole bus accompanied us and no one complained!
If you want to support local enterprise, as opposed to tour operators, book with Mario and get to know him. He and his family are proud of their family owned business and go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay in Huatulco. His wife Conchita is also a fabulous cook, she makes the box lunches and receives people in thier home for Sunday lunch.

Did another 7 bay tour with Mario, he is knowledgeable, fun, and seems to know everyone in the Huatulco area. Money well spent, next time I am back with do any and all trips with Mario, you can't go wrong using him as a guide.

We spent a day with Mario and it was the best part of the trip! He took us to see 7 bays, fantastic lunch on the beach, snorkeling, fishing and watching porpoises and turtles close up. Mario went way beyond the call of duty and gave our daughter very personal attention and instruction. All I can say is that if you book a day trip with Mario, you will not be disappointed!!

We talked to another couple at our resort that booked a boat tour through Mario and could not say enough great things. So we were able to find another couple that was interested and we booked a day tour with him. He picked us up at the hotel via taxis. The overall price included the taxi pick up but we had to pay for the return taxi. We took a boat out of the Santa Cruz marina that was around 15 minutes away from our hotel (Secrets). We were on a search to see dolphins or whales and we were successful in seating three dolphins and four sea turtles. Mario and our boat captain had two fishing lines out the back of the boat and we were successful in catching four fish. I believe it was three black tuna and one chula. We stopped at two beach areas to snorkel. The first was what Mario called The Little Caribbean. Here the water was turquoise like the Caribbean water and powder sand. However, the snorkeling was not very good here. We then we to San Augustine Bay where we met Mario's friends at a restaurant. They were wonderful and nice and prepared the chula fish that we caught earlier. Mario's wife also prepared fresh tamales that he had in a cooler as a surprise, this was a wonderful treat and were excellent. She is a wonderful cook and opens their home on Sundays to raise additional money for the family. Here at this bay the snorkeling was much better. Mario is very educated on the sea and the sea life. He would dive down and bring up different things from below. He caught with his hands a balloon / puff fish and a porcupine fish and was careful not to endanger the fish. On our way back he told us he also provides yoga and massage therapy. He provided me a 10 minute massage and it was heavenly! I wish I would have found him earlier as I would have went to him for an hour massage. The overall day tour was $220 for four people. Very well worth the money to get our and experience Huatulco. Mario is now our new friend whom I cannot wait to see on our next trip to Huatulco.
