Puerto de La Luna is on the hotel strip in Puerto Vallarta, though on the non-ocean side of the street. While dwarfed by its more modern neighbors, this hotel has a sort of old world charm.

This hotel is not for.those seeking all the modern conveniences (no elevators, bellboys, and the staff doesn't seem to know how the wifi works), it does have lovely grounds and a wonderful, large pool. The beds are large, clean and comfortable, and there are flat-screen tvs in the rooms.

The restaurant is only open for breakfast, which was dreadfully bad, and costs extra. Definitely not worth it, especially when there are a number of cafes within walking distance.of the hotel.

The hotel's main value is for families with pets. This is one of the few truly pet-friendly hotels in PV. The spacious grounds make it easy to walk your dog any time of day. They even supply plastic bag dispensers.

Definitely not a luxury hotel, but great for pet-owners and families on a budget.

Room Tip: Jr. Suites are available with a kitchenette.

It's a really good place well located sort of apart hotel place. If you are looking for a hotel treatment not the better choice but if traveling with group of friends, family or friends and just need a place to sleep is a good call

We had a one-bedroom, two-bathroom suite. It was clean, comfortable, charming, and everything we needed. Everything in the room worked great. The staff was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to serve us many times. Plus they spoke decent English.

Beautiful swimming pool. Friendly, bilingual, helpful staff - especially the concierge. A wonderful truck-food court is adjacent to the property - great food, very reasonable prices, great variety of food. It is NOT a luxury hotel. Some people live there year-round or for long-term stays. It is a great value.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

Do not be seduced by the grounds as you drive onto the property.
Yes, the property is nice looking and yes, you will NOT be stopped by a guard.

Just like the appearance of the property, the guard is just the same - there for an appearance, NOT SECURITY.

Meaning that over our 4 night stay, we were NEVER stopped at the entrance.
We complained NIGHTLY (from 12.30am to 3.30 am) about over-the-top crazy loud pool parties.

Security would walk by and say a few words, the crowd would laugh and get louder.
Since the guard shack ISN'T staffed at NIGHT - ANY ONE CAN BE ON THE PROPERTY and to us, it seemed like they were!!!!

The unit within the property itself was at the best a 2 star and that's grading on a "generous" curve based upon a/c in the bedroom.

With the property lay-out, it's pretty much not possible to have ANY air flow and so no way for a breeze.
The ceiling fan in the living room just made the humidity that much more uncomfortable.

With the television not working ("Oh, sorry about that. I'll make a note of it") and the wifi at dial-up speed - don't expect much and you won't be disappointed!

Choice for pet friendly hotels in Vallarta are limited but next time my choice will be one LESS by eliminating the property.

Dear Krat,

We want to say thank you for your comments about your One Night Stay in our hotel and pointing our beautiful natural grounds, we are always putting all our effort to keep them that way. It is clear that Puerto de Luna wasn’t what you wanted, but we’re concerned about some of your comments, specially those ones that mentioned our security department, we do have guards the twenty four ours of the day, and they take care of all of our guests the whole time, also they prevent that persons from outside come in and bother those ones who belong to Puerto de Luna, according the reports, there were not people invading the property or any pool party at that hour because of the mainteniance work in the pool asigned from 10:00 pm till 08:00 am.

Regarding the humidity, it is something that the town deals with all the time, specially us, a hotel with a huge natural space. There was no report about something else in your short stay like you describe it, otherwise we would’ve made everthing posible to solve it, which made us think this is all about a deposit that you never wanted to leave, even though it’s a part of the policies.

Thank you so much for your visit, we are here for you.

Luis Peña
