Just returned after a four night stay purchased through Groupon (our first time in PV; we spent the first three nights at a hotel in the zona romantica). Front desk and concierge staff were awesome and so attentive. We asked at check-in about upgrading and they quickly arranged for a staff member to show us our options. We probably would have upgraded had the rooms we were offered not had a view of the construction at the edge of the building. Appreciated all of the little details at this hotel...the delicious welcome drink and cool towels at check-in, the handmade popsicles and small snacks delivered poolside each afternoon, the yummy chocolates left at turndown service each evening. However, we called twice for ice on two different days, neither day it was delivered. We called one day and asked for a frying pan, never came. Had to ask housekeeping for additional coffee packages, dishwasher tabs, vanity kits, tea towels, sponges, etc. as apparently these do not get replenished otherwise. Plenty of shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap and lotion in the bathroom, but way too heavily scented for our liking. The balconies are desperately in need of lounge chairs/more comfortable furniture...only a small, very uncomfortable bistro set (in all rooms we previewed at check-in). If you are interested in walking down to Conchas Chinas beach or into town, be sure to ask the concierge on duty how to access the shortcut through their facility. It would be great if the resort could provide a little map showing the safest/most efficient way(s) to get down.
The biggest disappointment here was the food...breakfast buffet was good but very expensive, poolside lunch menu was very limited and the vegetarian grilled panini we ordered one day was absolutely horrible (basically it was chunks of greasy pre-cooked carrots and a little bit of zucchini in a soft doughy roll). The rooftop dinner menu was uninspired, very limited and expensive. With the million-dollar view that this restaurant has, it should be packed with people every night being served fabulous food, but sadly this was not the case. The restaurants here are completely in need of an overhaul. We didn't meet another guest who wasn't disappointed with the food here.
Management desperately needs to attend to the leaking in the halls outside of the rooms. What an eyesore each day to exit our room to the yellow caution sign and multiple towels completely soaked to the point that they are no longer holding water and the water is pooling/running across the hallway. We saw previous reviews complaining about this quite a while back already.
Finally, I am attaching a copy of the rules around the resort credit included with the Groupon purchase. Basically, it was useless to us even having dined multiple times around the resort. Spa services were more expensive here than at home in Canada, so we did not book. Buyer beware...that just left a bit of a bitter taste in our mouths.

What a great view from this resort! The rooms are truly spectacular. However, I wouldn't classify this as a luxury resort. There was an air of mistrust towards the patrons of the hotel. It left me feeling on edge during my stay. You cannot even use a towel at the pools without checking it out and risk being charged 50 pesos. Food is very very pricey here and not worth the money. The snack bar staff is thirsty for tips. The actual pool is very relaxing. The view from our room and the top deck is georgous. Also, don't expect any entertainment.

The resort is beautiful. Amazing room with an incredible view. The service at the resort however is below the standard I expect from a luxury resort. Our room was not ready until 3:30pm the day we arrived. It was supposed to be ready at 3pm. The food is ok, but quite expensive. Get this - My Wife went to get a towel and they asked for her room number. She asked why they need the room number just for a towel. It was that so they make sure she brings the towel back when she is done, or it is a 50 Peso charge. Are you kidding me??? What kind of resort doesn't have someone going around collecting the used towels?? Also, at the rooftop pool, no towels. You go to the rooftop, realize there are no towels, take the elevator down to the bottom, get a towel, go back up to the roof, go for a swim. Then you go back down to the bottom, and make sure you give them back your towel, or get charged 50 pesos. Beautiful.

We loved this hotel. Food was great, rooms were huge and beautiful, staff was extremely nice. Lots of pools. Amazing views of the ocean. Overall very nice to be in the peace and quiet up on the mountain away from all the rowdier resorts.

We just returned from a trip to Puerto Vallarta where were stayed at the Grand Miramar. We had such a lovely time! The staff were so kind and helpful, arranging dinners and booking tickets for us (for our various excursions). The view from our room was fantastic! Time went by so quickly. I would not hesitate to stay here again! Highly recommend if you want an amazing view, quiet area that is not too far from town. They even have a daily shuttle to downtown. Overall - great experience!
