Better than most Japanese restaurants in NYC, by a lot. You won't find any rolls with cream cheese here. In fact, this isn't a roll joint. This is where you come for real Japanese food. The nigiri sushi is excellent. You will find hamachi here, uni, saba, toro when available and all the other usual suspects. The agedashi tofu was the best I have ever had and I have been enjoying Japanese food for 30 years now, including in Japan, where I have been on many business trips. The one thing we had we didn't like was the grilled squid. It was way too tough. There are hibachi tables here and they serve shabu-shabu at your table. They looked fine, but we mostly stuck to the fish. I gave this 5 stars, but that is on a not-in-Japan scale. Suehiro cannot really compare to real Japanese-in-Japan as restaurants in Japan specialize on one thing or another versus offering everything Japanese. Still, if you want to get you Japanese on in Guadalajara, Suehiro is your go-to place. It's also very reasonable.
