My second time visiting this museum in Mexico City and loved it again. Highly recommend visiting. It is behind the Hilton that is on Avenida Juarez. They also have a great gift shop!

Thank wwmb

The Museo de Arte Popular is just two streets from the Alameda and has an address on Revillagigedo however, the entrance is not on that street but around the corner. On its three floors the vast handicrafts of Mexico have been divided into nine themes (not regionally). The themes include costume, religion, ceramics, etc. Like several museums in CDMX just looking at the presentation is worth the visit. The ground floor has a collection of floats and vehicles used in parades. If you are there at lunch time Mexico City´s tiny Chinatown is only a block or so away.

My friends and I visited here as a pre-visit before I take my Grade 1 class here. The building is beautiful and airy and the museum is very well laid out. It was also free! There is so much Mexican art and culture to see, we were there a lot longer than we had planned to be. Great to take kids to.

This was one of my favorite museums in Mexico City. The vibrant colors and beautiful folk art pop off the stark white walls. The atrium with the large skylight illuminates the courtyard and the adjoining open halls. Hanging in the courtyard are many large colorful kites. The building was a former fire station and the architecture is as interesting as the art. One of my favorite sections is the day of the dead collection as well as the ceremonial masks. This museum is located near Alameda Central Park and a must visit.
