At the time of booking i was quoted an amount per night, i prepayed and when i got there the rate was cheaper, at first i felt rippped off but i got my refund of the extra payed, so that's ok.

The service was mediocre at best, they didn't even provide me with toilet paper, i understand that this was not a 5* property, but come on, toilet paper, really?

The room that i got was very plain, i mean just the bed with some dirty-ish sheets and pillow cases and a little table, it was burning hot, not even a fan in there.
The sleep quality was terrible, lot of noise, and im not speaking about the street noise, which i was aware of, on saturday morning like 7am the cleaning lady started making a lot of noise with the washer machines and stuff, that's very uncalled for at that time in the morning on a saturday if you ask me.

The shared bathroom was ok, i mean just a shower and the toilet by itself, that's ok, it was fairly clean.

I wouldn't go back to this accomodation, the staff is VERY rude, the only highlight it is that is has a very good location, other than that, avoid.

Room Tip: I didn't really find any rooms that are actually worth it.

the posada is conveniently placed in the center of the town, walking distance to all the main landmarks, in a nice old building with a beautiful patio where one can have breakfast in the good restaurant next to the art gallery.
The rooms are very basic, but there is wifi internet and the price is really low.
It gets noisy at night when the bars in the neighbouring streets play ridicoulously loud music

I stayed for two days only but the owner was very very kind, the prices were fair and the place is real clean, besides it's just a couple of blocks away from downtown, near bars and nightclubs, also the church o santo domingo is around the corner; I truly recommend it.

This hotel was recommended in the Lonely Planet as clean but simple. It was not clean, the bathroom had a family of cockroaches. The walls are paper thin so we also had the pleasure of listening to the people next door throw up all night, I actually felt sorry for them having to spend so much time in the bathroom. We paid $30 for a king bed with private bathroom and we felt this was not good value for money. On a positive note the location is central just be mindful that you will probably be awoken early in the morning by church bells.

Donbalazo, manager at Posada Margarita, responded to this reviewResponded 4 February 2009

We are very, very sorry this traveler had a negative experience in our posada.

But we hope tripadvisor readers take this review "with a grain of salt." Our walls, for example, are not "paper thin:" they are solid 10 inch thick solid brick. The entire building is brick and adobe (as is typical in historical Oaxaca).

So whereas we question the judgment of someone who can not distinguish between a paper wall and a solid brick wall, we do take our criticisms seriously. If the bathroom was not cleaned and scrubbed properly before this visitor's arrival, or if he did indeed see cockroaches (yuc!), we suggest this was an aberration.

The Posada Margarita has been serving happy travelers for over 60 years. Even if 99% of our guests leave happy, we promise to redouble our efforts to continue to improve our service and your experience at La Posada Margarita. Buen viaje!
