Stayed as part of a tour so not sure how much the rooms are. Very basic. Shower pathetic. Rooms small. Lighting poor. Cold courtyard for breakfast. One night was enough. Clothes all felt damp when we left.

Made the mistake of not going to tripadvisor and stayed here on a relative's recommendation. Big mistake! Made our reservation from the U.S., I am completely bilingual, having grown up in Mexico, so the lack of English was not a deterrent for us. On arrival, they did not seem to be expecting us, even though we had a confirmation number and knew the name of the person who had made our reservation. It seems like the morning staff and the evening staff don't communicate very effectively.
The hotel is quite charming, a Mexican Colonial style mansion that is extremely well located, just a few minutes walk to San Cristóbal's main plaza or zócalo. The rooms are cute and serviceable, with Colonial furniture, a tad heavy on the angel décor throughout. Our bathroom was teeny tiny and had almost no ventilation, so a bit mildewed, but not an issue for us. Our main problem with the bathroom was the lack of hot water, it was barely lukewarm for my husband's shower. Our other problem with this hotel was the noise level. Our room was on the bottom floor, near one of the little courtyards that everybody uses as a smoking and conversation area and the noise was enough to wake us, even though we are both heavy sleepers. The sounds reverberate off of all the tile and hard surfaces and can get quite, quite loud, especially with children running around.
Upon our return to San Cristóbal after spending a few days exploring Palenque and the surrounding area, we stayed at a different hotel because of the noise.

Room Tip: Make sure you are away from the common areas, the noise level can be deafening. We were in Room 09.

We were directed to the Mansion by friends when we decided (a bit late) to travel to San Cristobal. It was very well-located (just about 2 blocks from the zocalo), clean and comfortable, although small by most US standards. We were in a room just off the lovely, central (covered) courtyard-retaurant which occasionally made it a little noisy, but it was never really intrusive and certainly did not go on late into the night. Breakfast was buffet style, but it was also possible to have things cooked to order. It seems to be the most popular meal, although the restaurant was open for lunch and dinner very few people seemed to take advantage of that. Most of the staff did not speak English, but with our halting Spanish we fared pretty well. Desk staff was remarkably "detached." We were there over the winter holidays and it is well-noted that there is no central heating -or, actually, any heating at all. With the temperature at 40 degrees at night one is well advised to come prepared with appropriate clothing. Our friends were able to obtain a small portable heater for us, so we fared pretty well. On the other hand, lack of heat is common in San Cristobal. Restaurants tend to keep their doors open and it is the norm for people to eat dinner with their coats on. If one is willing to adapt to the local customs it is possible to have a grand time.

Room Tip: We actually liked our room right off the central courtyard and didn't have an opportunity to see the rooms that were most removed, but some people might prefer a bit more separation. They seemed to be very accommodating to several families that had traveled from European countries.

I went to San Cristóbal with my girlfriend without reservation after several hotel's (most of them very expensive) fortunately we arrived to the La Mansión de los Angeles to ask and the price was good, the room very comfortable suited with all stuffs like 5 stars, the next morning we had the breakfast there and was good and no too expensive, definitely I recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in an old colonial house with a central patio. It could be lovely but the maintenance is poor and rooms are small and dark, no windows, at least mine. The location is good, in the centre, and they have an agency which can organize tours to Sumidero canyon and Montebello. The service is non existing: my room was on the upper floor without a lift an nobody even thought of helping me with my suitcase (I'm over 60).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window
