Owner description: A beautiful street bordered on one side by the harbor.

The place is very interesting and has a great view.
You can observe the massive cargo ships.
There are several spots with street food (corn, esquites, ice cream, etc).
A lot of merchants selling souvenirs and local handcrafts (art pieces).
Unfortunately the whole towns city center was extremely dirty, which was very unfortunate and a nasty experience (horrid smells everywhere and streets flooded with rubbish).
Which overall didn’t make it inviting.

I fell in love with Veracruz' Malecón before I ever saw it 'live & in person'; when watching María Novaro's wonderful 1991 film, Danzón. When I was able to visit, the walk along the waterfront did not disappoint. I love the sculpture honoring the port's engineers and dock workers, and most times of year it's possible to take a leisurely walk all the way to the aquarium, or the Agustín Lara museum, or even further south. It's also well worth going to the San Juan de Ulua fort/prison; on the way you see much more heavy-duty port activity. I also highly recommend John Todd Jr.'s website on various aspects of life in Veracruz, with his lively accounts of the region's social history.

Came here on our first day. It is ok but lacks charm. It's a nicer walk if you keep walking after the boardwalk toward boca del Rio as it isn't as crowded and you have a beautiful view of the ocean and rocks. Nice way to kill some time.

Walked several kilometers along the Malecon. It's fine but would be nice if they had more trees for shade.

This is a great place to take a walk anytime of the day or night. There are excellent views of the port and street vendors all over the place.
