My husband and I visited Hotel Villa Rolandi from February 3-7, 2012. It was very relaxing, which is exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is beautiful, and unique in structure, but the rooms are fabulous as well with special stained glass windows and the dual head showers. Very romantic and relaxing. It was a little different than other places that we have traveled in that we were probably only one of two couples there in our twenties, but it was probably due to the time that we went. The hotel staff was so welcoming and even surprised us with champagne in the room! Additionally, everything was reasonably priced. I was expecting the drinks at the bar and pool to be 10 or 12 a piece, but most were $6 or so.
The food at the resort was fabulous. My husband and I did not do the "all-inclusive" plan, but did have breakfast in the room each morning except for one (that we enjoyed in the restaurant. We would usually eat around 10 or 10:30 and that would be enough until dinner. The breakfast included omelets, or eggs cooked anyway you like, bacon, fruit, french toast, and croissants and biscuits. So much more that what we had expected. Also, there is a fully-stocked mini bar in the rooms, with beer, water, and soft drinks. The hotel staff replenishes is daily, complementary with the room charge. We could have eaten anywhere on the island, but had such a great experience with the restaurant at Villa Rolandi, that we chose to eat there every night. They did a "special" for hotel guests that allowed for an appetizer or salad, a main course, and dessert for $40. My husband and I especially enjoyed the ceviche, fillet, gnocchi, ravioli, and tiramasu, but really, everything was excellent. I should probably mention that ee experienced a pretty cool celebrity encounter in the restaurant one night. We came in early one night to dine and sat next to Richard Branson and his family. They were very polite.
We stayed in room 205, and I would highly suggest that you try to obtain accommodations on the second or third floors since the first floor rooms are right off the pool.
