I am a bit late in writing this review as my husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in December 2013.
We stayed in 3 different accommodations during our time in Merida and this was our favorite.
The two others were in the centre of town, and one considered a 'more flashy' hotel - but lacked character and charm.

The villas are like a little Oasis - we loved the traditional building and beautiful indoor gardens and swimming pool. Luis and Rolando were lovely, very helpful. The Villas are just a short walk from the centre of town - which is perfect to walk off a lovely meal at night and then return to your little sanctuary.

Definitely recommend The Villa Merida Hotel if you are looking for a traditional villa style accommodation that is a short stroll from town.

Thanks for a relaxing stay Luis and Rolando!

I reserve this hotel because looks like a secret place in Merida's downtown and it is true! is only eight blocks from the main square which is a walking distance, in the middle of the walk we found a nice park named Santiago, full of color, music and dancers. Inside the hotel Ifeel very comfortable and secure, the Manager Louis help us the get the right directions to know the city and choose the best places to dinner, he cook for us the first day and make us feel at home. the place is very recommendable enjoy it.

Room Tip: We choose a lovely courtyard Junior Suite in front of the fountain.

Old colonial home renovated with 7 rooms. Very private, comfortable and relaxing. Staff was very friendly and willing to assist in any way. We loved its uniqueness. It's position was great for walking to el centro and restaurants. Very Merida

Room Tip: We had a large room on second floor. Opened to pool and courtyard. Was great for coffee in the morning. There was also a private balcony that opened off the back of the room. Great for wine in the evening. There was a grocery store across the street that was very convenient to have.

This charming hotel was a delightful find! A beautifully restored colonial home with high ceilinged rooms overlooking either a lush delightful interior courtyard or the poolside lush gardens & tranquil outdoor dining area. Bathrooms were modern & had design!
The staff were exceedingly friendly & attentive, greeting us as if we were personal guests. Luis, the manager served us the most delicious breakfasts of local specialties. Quite the chef! He was so helpful in acquiring a rental car & guiding us to places of interest.
We found the hotel to be conveniently located close to Merida's bustling town centre & yet not far from airport.
Definitely would highly recommend this one......don't pass up the opportunity to visit.

Staying here did not feel like staying at a hotel at all, more like staying at your own private house with a butler and chef. It's very private, beautiful, and romantic. Nice combination of historic/colonial styles with modern amenities and contemporary features (modern bedroom and bathrooms). Very friendly staff. Amazing chef, best food in Merida!!
