We took this on the first day and it really gave us a great overview of the island, history and culture. It also helped us to decide what we wanted to do with the rest of our stay. Very good tour guides. I would like them on Facebook but I don't have Facebook.

We went on our Jeep Adventure in November as an extra treat for my partners’ birthday while we were in Cancun and we were not disappointed.

The day began at 08:30 when we met our fantastic guide Merak and our fellow adventurers at La Isla mall. The meeting point is easily accessible if you are staying in the Hotel Zone as the bus stops right outside.

After a brief introduction we were shown to our very own Hummer H3 – which by UK standards is a tank! You are given a walkie-talkie as a means to keep in contact as the guide will travel in one party’s vehicle while everyone else will be alone. This isn’t as daunting as it may sound given that the route you will travel is very straightforward and the Mexican traffic isn’t as crazy as you may think (compared to Southern Europe or Asia, for example).

The first stop of the day was at the Mayan ruins at El Rey. While the site is quite small (don’t expect Chichen Itza otherwise you’ll be disappointed) our guide Merak was very knowledgeable and gave us real insight into Mayan culture and its impact on modern day Mexico.

Following El Rey it was then a drive south to visit a wildlife centre. Here we had the chance to see some of the native fauna such as crocodiles, monkeys and coatimundis’. Maybe this activity is aimed slightly more at younger audiences, but as animal lovers we enjoyed it none the less.

After the wildlife park it was back in the Hummer and off to the zip-lining / quad biking centre in the midst of the Mexican jungle. This was certainly the ‘adventure’ element of Jeep Adventures. First we were given helmets (if you have a Go Pro, this is a great time to use it) and led to our quad-bike. It is one quad per couple with the chance to change drivers half way through. This was really good fun as the quads are pretty powerful and the terrain quite challenging – just prepare to get muddy and possibly end up in a bush or two.

With the quad bike ride done it was then on to the zip-lining. This is much more sedate and, unless you are scared of heights, is a chance to sit back and enjoy the jungle surroundings.

The final activity of the day was a dip in a nearby cenote, essentially a sink-hole in the jungle with is filled with water. This was the chance to just relax and to cool down after long day in the sun. Note that for any non-swimmers the cenote is very deep but life vests are provided. There is a changing area at the cenote so be sure to bring a towel and a change of clothes.

To bring the day to a close we were taken to a beach front café/bar for the included meal. This was a nice opportunity to see a real Mexican town as opposed to the Miami-like nature of Cancun.

Overall we had a great day and would highly recommend. It was a nice mix of activities and a chance to see some of the areas outside of Cancun. Merak was a fantastic guide and really made the day all the more enjoyable.

Constant information provided trough the tour. Taken into places in Ensenada that you wouldn't normally visit. Ended at a winery. Learned so much and got to taste A LOT of wine. Highly recommend.

We took the Polaris Jeep adventure with another couple. We had one jeep for the four of us and travelled in a group of about 8 jeeps. It was pretty much an entire day. Got to enjoy a little bit of many things. We saw a crocodile at one stop. The light house was nice. Also included snorkeling and a really nice meal at a beach. The Mayan ruins were larger than I was expecting after being told it was a small site. I always like to hear about the ruins. The drive alone the east side of the island is very pretty and I would like to go back and rent scooters to tour that side. At the end of the tour you go to a tequila shop to learn about how it is made and to try several samples. It was good tequila.
