My family with an infant, my parents and my aunt, went together for a vacation during Christmas holiday in Playa del Carmen. It proved a good choice we lived in this apartment for 6 nights. The apartment is located in Villas Pakal in Playacar Condominium phase two, a very nice, private and safe neighborhood around golf courses, not far away to the beach and 5th ave. The apartment complex is relatively deep in the sub consisting of many apartments, houses and hotels. It is surrounded by many plants and fairly maintained environment. The apartment is on the top level of the building with convenient access to the rooftop lounge area. There are terrace and Jacuzzi, though we didn’t get chance to use, on the rooftop. There is a swimming pool with table, chair and umbrella behind the apartment building. The rooftop area and swimming pool are shared by the residents, but actually we seldom met other neighbors there, as it seemed very few people staying or renting in the apartment complex during those days. Also because of this, the whole environment is very quiet and private. The apartment is relatively spacious, has a large living/dining area, a full kitchen (having necessary appliances and cookware), 3 bedrooms and 2 baths (1 in the master br), though the 3rd br is tiny with only a single person bed. It is moderately furnished with basically most of things you need for a short living. The rooms are basically clean, just a little damp in the kitchen and bath, due to the weather and not fully air-conditioned. Bed linens, bath towels provided are also clean. Generally the apartment is nice to live. Just two things could be better. One is the air-conditioning. Not a central one but separate ones in the br and kitchen/living area. The two ACs in the two big br are good but No AC in the 3rd small br. Unfortunately the most necessary AC in the kitchen/living area didn’t work during our stay. Though we went during Christmas, but still there was a time, especially afternoon to early evening, we like to cool down the kitchen/dining/living area. The owner, Eduado, is nice, responsive and cooperative, agreed to repair the AC from the beginning, but a difficulty is that he is not in PDC, but Mexico City, so hard for him to coordinate the repair in a short time. Anyway we got used to it finally. It is not the big issue to ruin our stay. Another thing needs some patience is the toilet water pressure. It works but often needs several times to flush completely. Since Eduado is not there, we checked in and out with the help of his friend, Carlos, who is very nice and lives next door. From the house, you need 15 to 20 min. walk to the 5th ave or beach, so having a car, or renting bikes, like we did, will make your life easier. Overall we had a good time living in this apartment, though the expense was relatively high with our stay in the hot season.
